Cheviot Super Saturday School From Our Nurse: 2nd Annual
Cheviot Super Saturday School
***IMPORTANT***
The law requires that
children be up to date on
their shots. However,
there are still a number
of students who do not
have all of their required
vaccines. Your Child’s
Pediatrician and Nurse
are good sources of
information if you aren’t
sure your child has all of
their immunizations.
Cheviot offers Super Saturday
School as a small group skillsbuilding tutorial program for select
students in grades 3-6. The program
combines traditional small group
tutoring, team work and leadership,
From Our Nurse:
TOP 10 REASONS TO PROTECT YOUR CHILD BY VACCINATING
1. Parents want to do everything
possible to make sure their children
are healthy and protected from
preventable disease, and
vaccination is the best way to do
that.
2. Vaccination protects children
from serious illness and
complications of vaccinepreventable disease.
Looking for a
Rewarding Way to
Spend Your Time?
Tutors are needed at
Cheviot School during
the day. Tutors would
assist students with
reading and writing
skills. Hours and days of
tutoring can be flexible.
Tutoring is a rewarding
way to give back to the
community. If you would
like to tutor or have any
questions contact Mr.
Collier at 513-363-1400.
and online learning in reading and
math. Saturday school takes place
beginning February 21 from 8 am12 pm. Our partner Vineyard
Westside Church provides lunch
for our students (pictured at right).
3. Vaccine-preventable diseases,
such as measles, mumps, and
whooping cough, are still a threat.
They continue to infect U.S.
children every year.
4. Even though vaccination has led
to a big decrease in the number of
U.S. cases of several diseases,
some of these diseases are still
very common in other countries,
and are brought to the U.S. by
international travelers.
5. Outbreaks of preventable
disease occur when parents decide
not to vaccinate their children.
6. Vaccinations are safe and
effective. All vaccines undergo long
and careful reviews by scientists,
doctors, and the federal
government for safety.
7. The American Academy of
pediatrics, the American Academy
of Family Physicians, and CDC
strongly support child
vaccinations.
8. Vaccinations protect others you
care about.
9. If children aren’t vaccinated
they spread disease to others.
10. We all have a responsibility
and community commitment to
public health.

Kindergarten is Fast Approaching!
Parents need to start thinking
about enrolling their children for
kindergarten; Cheviot School
has a variety of events coming
up to support current and new
Kindergarten students and their
families. Super Why Reading
Camp, made possible by the
PBS Kids series, helps children
learn to read through storybook
adventure. Campers will begin
each day by watching the show
SUPER WHY & Hansel and Gretel
a Healthy Adventure. After
watching the show, Kdg campers
will participate in games and
activities that teach reading skills of
that day. We are also pleased to
announce that we will be hosting
the Rising Stars Program- a four
week summer program that is for
all 4 & 5 year olds that will be
entering kindergarten in the fall.
This is a free half day program that
will run from June 2—June 26th.
The goal of the program is to help
children transition successfully to
kindergarten. For more information
about these programs, contact Mr.
Collier at 513-363-1400.
