Peter visits the household of Cornelius and tells them the
Christian message. God accepts everyone and anyone who
turns to him. Peter tells them about Jesus and how he is the
one that God has appointed to be Lord of all. Peter and his
colleagues are witnesses of his resurrection.
The Second Reading
1 Corinthians 15:1-11 (page 935)
Paul reminds the Corinthians of the message he first
preached to them. They must continue to believe this
message. Christ died for our sins and was raised again. He
showed himself alive by various appearances. His last
appearance was to Paul. Paul has responded to his call to
be apostle and worked harder than any. Whatever, all
believe this same Gospel.

Jesus Christ is risen today, alleluia!
The strife is o’er the battle done
The day of resurrection
One day when heaven
Now the green blade riseth
All heaven declares
Thine be the glory
The Collect
Lord of all life and power,
who through the mighty resurrection of your Son
overcame the old order of sin and death
to make all things new in him:
grant that we, being dead to sin
and alive to you in Jesus Christ,
may reign with him in glory;
to whom with you and the Holy Spirit
be praise and honour, glory and might,
now and in all eternity.
The First Reading
John 20:1-18 (page 882)
Mary Magdalene is the first to discover the empty tomb.
She tells Peter and John who run to see what has happened.
The disciples return to their homes, but Mary cannot bring
herself to leave. She remains weeping. She thinks that
someone must have taken Jesus’ body away. Jesus appears
to her. At first, she thinks it is the gardener. Jesus speaks
her name. She hugs him. Jesus tells her to go and tell the
other disciples that he is alive and ascending to the Father.
The Post Communion Prayer
God of Life,
who for our redemption gave your only-begotten Son
to the death of the cross,
and by his glorious resurrection
have delivered us from the power of our enemy:
grant us so to die daily to sin,
that we may evermore live with him
in the joy of his risen life;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
A Very Happy Easter to All at
Christ Church!
