Reading Fair
By: Dhebi, Ethan, Jason, Sangjin, and Seoyoung
The reading fair is an event in which students choose
their favorite storybook and make a storyboard to present it.
Students work in teams of 2 to 4 people. They must include
the book's title, plot, characters, setting, and theme, and
their personal opinion of why they chose the book and what
they think of the book. The students started on the reading
fair in February and they were busy preparing to complete
them by March 13th 2015, which is the due date. The team
with the best storyboard will get a cool prize! Everyone wants
to win the prize and they are doing great! Who will be the
winners of the fair?

Our reporter, Jason, asked the judges Teacher Daisy, the
librarian, Teacher Soly, the art teacher, and Teacher Matt, the
media specialist from our middle school. The judges are scoring the
boards on 3 criteria: creativity, neat work, and best idea. When
asked about their thoughts on the reading fair, Teacher Matt said, "I
am looking for creativity and how original they are. What I'm also
looking for is something that is more of the students' idea, and not
help received by their teacher, how neat and tidy and the quality of
the drawings are, whether they have included the list of things they
need for their posters, and finally the writing that's on there; does it
cover everything? Is it thorough? Is it clear and easy to understand?"

Math Competition
By: Ali, Satya, Shafin, and Justine
The math competition is an event where you answer the math
questions that have been given. This year there were stations around

the school. The competition lasts for only one hour. The math
competition took place at the CIA First Campus 1. The competition
happened on the 2nd-5th and the 12th of March 2015. This year is
better than last year because last year the teachers picked a few
students to join the competition. Kundwadh Bun from grade 4B
said, “I feel bad because I didn’t win it because it was hard.” Many
students thought that this year was very hard to do because
students had to walk around the school and do the math questions
for about an hour. Wendy Park from grade 5C said, “I feel like it
was fun and sometimes it was so mysterious that I couldn’t
understand. Some questions were easy.” Some students didn’t like
the math competition at all. Some students thought it was fun
because they could run and talk to their friends. Giryeong Park
from grade 3A said, “I feel bad because it was so hard.” The
winners of the math competition are listed below. We are happy
for the winners of the math competition. We look forward to seeing
who the winners are next year!

Games
Super Mario Bros 2
Platform: Nintendo DS
By: Rhone & Sakmonee
It is a Nintendo Game made in
2014. The game was copied and
updated form the old version.
They upgraded Racoon’s Power
so that he can fly. There are nine
worlds. Two of the worlds are
mystery worlds and one is a
bonus world. It is a two-player
game that you can play as Mario
or Luigi. You need to face one
Koopaling in every world. I
recommend this to kids because
I think they would like the
powers, music, and characters.

Health and Safety

and Safety." To be healthy, students are encouraged to eat fruits

and vegetables. Kindergarteners usually eat cereal, sandwiches,
pieces of fruits, and a glass of milk for their morning snack. From

Monday to Thursday, students are not allowed to buy junk food
and soft drinks from the back of school. Justine from Grade 5A
thinks, "This is a great change for the students' health. I think the
canteen should sell more healthy food for students to make better
decisions when it comes to food and health.” Moreover, students
at CIA First have swimming once every week and P.E. twice a
week to make students more active. We think this will help us be
healthier.
“The Night at the Museum is about
one security guard who needs to
refill the power in the magic
tablet that makes the Museum
come to life every night. He goes
to London to fix the problem. He
speaks with the people at the
Museum in London, but Lancelot
stole the table from them. We
really enjoyed this movie.

At CIA First, students are asked to be safe at all times. We can
be safe by not running around the swimming pool, keeping to the
right on the stairs and in the hallways, not playing football and
basketball out of the P.E. court.

Track and Field

Track and Field is a tournament that is held every year at
Games
Northbridge International School in Cambodia. Students prepare
“Animal Jam”
for it by training with the P.E. teacher at their school. The CIA

CIA think that it was fun and interesting. Justine from grade 5A
said, “Track and Field is very cool, awesome, and fun.” Students
also said that they were not the best winners but they still won. The
events were 100 meters, 200 meters, 400 meters, 800 meters, long
jump, standing long jump, high jump, shot put, hurdles 100-300
meters, and the javelin. Dara from grade 4B said, “Track and Field
is fun because even though you may lose you still have fun!”
This article is about Animal
Jam. The game is about
playing as an animal in a
different world. In the Animal
Jam we can get buddies. We
can find buddies by
connecting with our friends
online. The goal of the game is
to earn different things and
play around with others. We
can buy a lot of stuff and we
can buy golden armors. Many
people play Animal Jam. We
can become a member and we
can make our animal buddy
cooler than before. Such as
buying an X-bow, cool clothes,
cool games, and cool shoes. If
we find a lot of animals we
can get a present and we can
play adventure games. We like
this game because we can
meet friends and talk to each
other. We think others should
play this game because they
can learn about the animal
buddies and their
characteristics.

Kids’ City Field Trip
By: BJ, Jeffrey, Jyhoon, Nimo, Raksa, and Wendy
On the 13th-27th January 2015 students of CIA First had a science

trip to Kids' City. Kids' City is in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, next to the 42-
Music
storey building. It is a place for many people to learn and have fun in the

the Clip and Climb. Our students got to play and learn in the Science
Gallery.
Students said they learned that light travels in waves and how
electric currents work. Almost all of the students said that it was very fun.
There were lots of games, activities, and science technology. They did
many activities like riding the bicycle on the rope and solving puzzles.
Some of them were scary and some of them were not scary. Teacher
Morgan, a grade 3 teacher, told us "I felt like Kids' City was a great
experience for my students because it challenged them to think actively
about the way the world works. Also, I believe it forced them to think
critically."
Our opinion is that the song is
good. “Sugar” is a song by
Maroon 5. They are the top group
singers in our opinion. We
recommend that you should listen
to this song because we like the
lyrics. The lyrics are fantastic
and interesting. We think this
because it is ridiculous when they
crashed many weddings and took
them over. The music video is
kind of funny too. They took
selfies with people in the middle
of the road while in the car and
the cops came so they ran away.
When you get bored you can
watch this video and it will make
you laugh. Satya Bun from Grade
5C said, “The song is very
awesome and fun to listen to
because it cheers you up when
you’re sad.” We give the song
four out of five stars because
there is one naughty word, even
though the video mutes it.
