The Clancy School Board of Trustees voted to run a mill levy for $17,000.00. Clancy School has not asked for a levy
increase in three years. We have met our budget each of those years even while experiencing declining budgets and
increasing costs to the school. We have completed our facility update plan and have a building that is ready to house our
students for the next 20 years with minimal updating. We feel we have a building that is safe, comfortable and efficient,
and a benefit to the community as a whole. It is now time to turn our focus towards our curriculum and classroom
materials. The money from this levy will be used to review, update, and purchase new curriculum materials. This money will
go directly to meeting the needs of students and teachers as we deliver curriculum that prepares our students for the

future. We encourage you to vote on May 5 , 2015. The polls are open from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clancy School
and Jefferson City Community Center.

If you are having a chocolate craving, please come to the office! We have some extra World’s Finest chocolate available!
Candy bars are $1.00, and boxed chocolate is $6.00! We also have a few bags of granola and candy fruit slices

The 3 through 8 graders will be taking Smarter Balanced tests starting March 23 . We will be completing the tests
over a span of four weeks, although each student will only be testing for five days. Also, DIBELS testing will be

conducted April 20 – 23

for K through 5 graders. If at all possible, please try to avoid outside appointments on
these days and have students in attendance, as it is hard to reschedule individual testing. Students: Please get plenty of
sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast!

GRADE STUDENTS AND PARENTS!

On Tuesday, April 28, 2015, all interested 8 graders are invited to come and spend a couple hours at Jefferson High
School. Buses will pick up at Clancy at 11:00 a.m. Students will receive lunch prepared and served by JHS’s award
winning ProStart program. At 12:00 p.m., students will go on tours of the school and listen to presentations of JHS
sport and club offerings. Buses will leave JHS and return to their schools at 1:30 p.m.
CLANCY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP!
The Clancy Education Association will be giving cash scholarships to students in grades K–8 for academic related
workshops, camps or classes taken during the 2015 summer season. Winners of the scholarship must use the money for
an educational opportunity of their choice during the summer of 2015. Examples include, but are not limited to educational
camps, or music/art/theatre classes. An application is attached! APPLICATIONS ARE DUE TO MS. GANTT BY

DENTAL SCREENING DETAILS
Dental screenings are scheduled for May 1, 2015 for grades 1, 3, 5 and 7. A blue form has been sent home – please
return this form IF YOU DO NOT WANT YOUR CHILD SCREENED. Students who have been screened will bring
home a form with results of the screening. Thank you to the Jefferson County Health Department for donating dental kits
for our screening!
BREAKFAST IS SERVED!!!
Breakfast is served every morning in the cafeteria from 8:00 – 8:30! The cost is $1.00. If your child is eligible for
free or reduced lunch, he/she is also eligible for free or reduced ($0.30) breakfast!!! REMEMBER, if you ride the
bus, you may come in for breakfast when the bus drops you off!

COUNSELOR’S CORNER
Cougars,
The LAST quarter of this school year is in full swing!! Cougars, please remember to stay focused and attentive as the
distraction of nice weather tries to steal our attentiveness away!
We are having attendance issues with many of our Cougars this year. Our Clancy School Board adopted a new policy this
year outlining attendance criteria. Did you know that students who attend school regularly: Are more likely to graduate
high school; are less likely to drop out before completion of high school; are more confident in their work and themselves;
enjoy school more; and are more likely to graduate with competencies that enable them to be productive members of
society?
Have you liked our Facebook page yet? I am making a conscious effort to disseminate more information via our Facebook
page when I find it doing my reading and research. We are also trying to do a better job of sharing all of the wonderful
things that are happening at Clancy School throughout the school year via our Facebook page! For those of you who use

ON LOCATION – SERVICES FOR FAMILY AND KIDS
In cooperation with Intermountain, we have a counselor-therapist right here at the school. This service helps with kids
going through difficult life adjustments and/or issues. Lance Bischoff, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, has
worked with families and children for over six years and can meet with kids and families on Mondays or after school.
HMK+ and other insurance plans are accepted for his services. Private, helpful, practical. Call Lance for an appointment

MARIAH’S CHALLENGE JR. HIGH DANCE

annual Mariah’s Challenge Jr. High dance is coming soon! It will be held in the
Boulder Elementary Gym on April 24 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A bus will pick up students at Montana City at 5:15
p.m. and at Clancy at 5:30 p.m. The bus will return the students to Clancy and Montana City following the dance. There
is no admission fee and there will be snacks and door prizes!! Parents, if you have any questions, please feel free to call

JEFFERSON COUNTY MUSEUM
Thank you to the community members who participated in the 1986 Boomtown play! It was a tremendous success!
An exhibit from Fort Missoula entitled, "United We Will Win: WWII Posters that Mobilized a Nation," is on display at the
Jefferson County Museum in Clancy, Montana. We are extending the viewing time for the exhibit from the end of May to
the end of June. Museum hours are 1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. The exhibit consists of over 50
inspirational posters. Propaganda posters played a major role in gaining American support for a war that many were wary
of joining.

The selection of student does not discriminate on the basis of race, age, or other handicaps. A selection
committee of CEA members will choose the winners and will notify the winners prior to the end of the
school year.
Application Essay
Responses may be written neatly in longhand, double-spaced, on lined paper or they may
be written on a word processing program, also double-spaced. Either way, the essay
answers must be written by the applicant only. You are encouraged to elaborate as much as
possible.
Write an autobiography. Tell about yourself, your family, your interests and your hobbies.
If you were to receive a student scholarship, explain why you need the award money, and
how you plan to use it.
