CCLD Teen Summer Reading - Clear Creek County Library District
CCLD Teen Summer Reading
*Teens ages 12 to 17 years of age are eligible to participate in the teen summer reading
program. Teens or their parents/grandparents must be residents of Clear Creek County and the teen
must be a CCLD library card holder in order to participate.
*Sixth graders can choose to participate in either teen summer reading program or children’s summer reading program, but not both.
*Sign up at either Georgetown Library or Idaho Springs Library. This will be
your base library, and you need to go to that library to check in and log in the books you have read.
Go to Susan or Stephanie at the Georgetown Library or Sally and Stephanie at the Idaho Springs Library to register the books that you read.
* Read books appropriate for your age level – no picture books.
* You must read 5 books to be entered into the drawing.
*If you are going to be away for a period of time, you may e-mail a 3 to 5 paragraph synopsis of each
book read. Email to [email protected] in Georgetown and [email protected] in
Idaho Springs.
* The program begins June 2nd and continues until August 4th. The Prize winners will be picked on
Wednesday August 5 at the summer reading party. You do not need to be present to win!
* Every time you read a book, come to the library and tell a librarian all about the book you just read.
You may only tell the librarian about three books per week.
* Each time you read a book, record it on the tally sheet.
*Volunteer credit should also be recorded on the tally sheet, along with a librarian signature.
* Each line of the tally sheet qualifies as one entry into the raffle at the end of the program.
* If you feel like you can fulfill the commitment, sign- up to be a volunteer for the children’s summer
reading program. Volunteers must also read books during the summer to qualify for the end-of-theyear prize drawing. These hours also fulfill your school volunteer requirement, but you must bring all
your school required paperwork to the library at the time you do your volunteer service. We will not
back-date volunteer hours.
*After 5 and 10 lines are filled out -- pick a prize from the teen prize bin! Everyone is a winner!
Grand prize: Kindle Fire!!!
1st Prize: iPod touch!!
2nd Prize: Pizza party for you and three friends!
Other prizes: Disco ball, train rides, movie and dinner gift card, and much more!
