18TH ANNUAL PRIMARY CARE UPDATE
GENERAL OBJECTIVES:
• Defend the rationale for the selection of different therapies
based upon currently available, evidence-based information
and individual patient consideration.
Upon completion of the conference, participants should be
able to improve competence and physician performance by
being able to:
• Identify the new diagnostic modalities and the rationale for
selection of those that are appropriate for each patient.
• Assess commonly over-looked diagnostic evidence in
primary care.
• Classify the use of new medications, recommended uses,
unique characteristics, side effects, interactions, dosage and
costs as well as other considerations.
PRIMARY CARE UPDATE MAY 5-9, 2015
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This intensive
five-day course includes a review and update
on major subject areas in family medicine.
The course is taught by more than 30 faculty

strategies and education through case studies
and lectures. More than 800 pages of syllabus
materials are provided as a resource for today’s
office practice.

Tips to Help You Be Ready Requires an additional registration fee.
Speaker: Deborah Hale, C.C.S., C.C.D.S.
The change to ICD-10-CM and PCS represents one of the most significant changes in
healthcare regulations during the past twenty years. Effective October 1, 2014 payment
for professional and facility services rendered will be based upon the physician’s
ability to provide the comprehensive documentation necessary for assignment of the
significantly expanded volume of ICD-10-CM codes. Payers will expect physicians to
bill using these more specific codes or risk payment denial. You won’t have to memorize
thousands of new codes; you will need to learn what documentation elements are
relevant to the codes you use most frequently in your practice. This session will help the
physician to recognize key elements of documentation needed to achieve payment.
