SUBJECT:
MARINER HIGH SCHOOL DRILL TEAM SHINES AT STATE,
NATIONAL COMPETITIONS
The Mariner High School Leadership Academy Drill Team spent this past weekend
representing the school at two simultaneous meets in two different states. Cadets
competed at both the National Drill Meet in Louisville, Kentucky, as well as the State
Drill Meet in Lakeland, Florida.
The state team finished their season with an incredible third place trophy in the Squad
Armed Regulation, with Cadet Chrys Delisle leading the squad. The state-level
competition brought together cadets from over 80 high schools across Florida.
The female team competed as the only female team against rival male teams in four
categories at the national competition – Armed Platoon (led by Cadet Kylie
Kellermeier), Armed Exhibition (led by Cadet Destiny Rodriguez), Color Guard (led by
Cadet Kylie Kellermeier), and Inspection (led by Cadet Ely Palacios). Cadet Nick
Agiulo competed in a solo exhibition at nationals, achieving a 10 th place finish. After a
grueling day of competition against cadets from 44 of the best high school programs in
the nation, the Mariner team finished in 19th place.
The School District of Lee County congratulates the Triton Drill Team for their hard
work, dedication and commitment to excellence in representing JROTC and Mariner
High School values to other programs from around the nation.
