Viewing a Case`s CAC Transaction History
Viewing a Case’s Client Assistance Card Transaction
History

Core Concepts
Why would I need to view a case’s client assistance card transaction history?
In order to ensure that the Red Cross is meeting its clients’ needs, Caseworkers at times need
to assess the current status of assistance the Red Cross has provided a client, and Casework
Supervisors need to make that assessment whenever they review a case. You can readily
review a case’s client assistance card transaction history at the Client Assistance Card (CAC)
tab.
At that tab you can see the amount that the Red Cross issued, or committed, to a client on a
client assistance card; any amount that the Red Cross has deducted from a card; details
regarding each transaction (e.g. value addition, value deduction, deactivation) that a CAS 2.0
administrator performed for a card; and the card’s current bank status and balance. While you
cannot see the individual charges a client makes against a client assistance card in CAS 2.0,
the bank balance that the system displays accounts for the value of those charges, and your
unit can access the specific charges through the bank’s premium reports.
What is the Budget Source listed in a client assistance card’s transaction history,
and how does the system determine what it should be?
Red Cross leadership uses the Budget Source figures for future budgeting and for day-to-day
resource management on a disaster relief operation (DRO). For national DROs, the system
always designates a Budget Source of NHQ. For other events, it designates a regional
chapter as the Budget Source based on FOCIS data and the pre-disaster zip code associated
with the case for which the client assistance card was issued. For chapters that are not
associated with a regional chapter, the Budget Source is the servicing chapter. Once a CAC
has been issued, you cannot change its Budget Source, even if an event is reclassified to
become a National DR.

proxy #.

committed to client assistance cards for the case
as well as a Card Total for each card
 In our most common scenario, where we issue
only one card per case, the Grand Total will
