RAISE YOUR PADDLE
TO HONOR CREIGHTON PREP LEGEND
FR. JIM MICHALSKI, SJ
(1942-2014)
Please raise your bidding paddle in memory of Creighton Prep legend Fr. Jim Michalski, SJ who
passed in December after a brief battle with cancer. In 1974, Fr. Michalski was the driving force
behind the creation of the student-led Freshman Retreat program that is still, for many Prep
students, the defining event that binds them to their classmates and to the school for life. Among
his many other accomplishments as a Jesuit, Fr. Michalski was the founding president, chaplain
and religion teacher at the Jesuit Middle School—now known as Jesuit Academy—that has become
an important part of North Omaha and where his good friend and Prep’s 33rd president, Fr. Tom
Neitzke, SJ, succeeded him. Donations here will be used to help offset more than $80,000 in costs
incurred annually to operate Prep’s retreat program. Those raising their paddles at or above the
$100 giving level will receive recognition on a beautiful display honoring Fr. Michalski at Prep.
Display donated by Regal Awards/Jeff Neary ‘86 and presented by Greg Glenn ‘70
