Thank you Gretchen Becker for playing bass with us this semester. She is a founding LDYE parent as her daughter, Dara,

Thank you to the regional string teachers for sending your talented students our way.
Thank you to the sponsors and parents of our orchestra who

And finally thank you to the wonderful members of LDYE for
bringing us all laughter, joy and beautiful music.
Julie Signitzer holds a masters degree in violin performance
and did Post-graduate studies at the Mozarteum Conservatory in
Salzburg, Austria. After four years as a member of the Mozarteum
Orchestra, Julie moved to New York City to work as a freelance
violinist. She has performed with dozens of orchestras and opera
companies and has toured extensively with a variety of pop performers,
including Frank Sinatra. Julie was described as “zestful” by the New
York Times in a review of her performance in Hot Klezmer, an
off-Broadway show. She plays regularly with the Cayuga Chamber
Orchestra, Glimmerglass Opera Orchestra, the Albany Symphony
and the Northeast Pennsylvania Philharmonic. Julie is a member
of the Catskill Klezmorim and is founder and director of the Little
Delaware Chamber Players and the Little Delaware Youth Ensemble.
Signitzer is an adjunct professor of violin at SUCO.
The Little Delaware Youth Ensemble is a string
orchestra comprised of young musicians ranging in age from 8 to 18,
from communities throughout the region. They rehearse once a week
during the school year in Oneonta. The group presents four public
concerts per season. In addition to performances the ensemble hosts
a two day string workshop with a guest artist from outside our region.
The past workshops have included improvisation master Matt Glaser,
Klezmer violinist Alicia Svigals, Jay Ungar, rock violinist Mark Wood,
Cellist Eugene Friesen, Canadian fiddle champion Ivonne Hernandez
and Bristish Jazz violinist Ben Powell. Tuition is $125 per student
per semester. Anyone interested in joining the group should contact
Julie Signitzer at 607-435-3857 or email [email protected]
