INSTRUCTIONS FOR ONLINE OPTION REGISTRATION
FOR BTECH (REGULAR & LATERAL ENTRY)/BBA, LLB/BCOM, LLB/5Yr MSc
PHOTONICS
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
1. The option registration is an online activity requiring internet connection.
Through online option registration, candidates can submit their preference for the
academic programme for which they wish to join.
2. Candidates in the rank list of CAT 2015 who have applied for B TECH (Regular
as well as Lateral Entry)/5 year BBA LLB(Hons.)/5 year BCOM LLB (Hons.)/5
Yr MSc Photonics programmes should invariably register their options (ie order
of preference of academic programmes they wish to join) in the website. The
detailed SCHEDULE OF ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR BTech/5Yr
LLB(BBA/BCOM)/5Yr MSc PHOTONICS WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE
SITE SEPARATELY.
3. The candidates who wish to register their options should login to the candidate
home page in the website “www.cusat.nic.in” using their username and password
and should exercise their options using the link provided in the page.
4. From the available option list box on the left side the candidate can add as many
options as required to the “selected options box” on the right side. For this the
candidate should first select the option he/she wish to choose and then click the
Add button. The selected option will now appear in the “selected options box” on
the right side.
5. For those who have applied for both BTech and 5 year LLB with BBA or BCom,
separate menu for option registration are available.
6. The order of the selected options can be changed using the Move Up or Move
Down button. Selected options can be removed using the Remove button.
7. Candidates can change or edit the Options once exercised by them till the last date
of online option registration. However, the online options stored in the University
database as on the date and time of closing of online option registration shall be
final and no further changes will be entertained thereafter. The options stored in
the University database only will be considered for further processing. Based on
the options submitted by candidates, the allotment will be made at the time of
counselling/admission.
8. OPTION REGISTRATION FACILITY IS AVAILABLE ONLY FOR A
LIMITED PERIOD. FOR DETAILS SEE SCHEDULE OF ADMISSION

9. If any candidate fails to exercise online options before the stipulated date, he
will not be considered for allotment at all.
10. For Kerala higher secondary board examinations the total mark for first year and
second year combined should be entered. For CBSE/ICSE etc. the marks for the
second year only need to be entered.
11. Registering options in the website does not guarantee admission in the University
which is subject to fulfillment of eligibility criteria mentioned in the prospectus.
Candidates are responsible for ensuring that they fulfill the eligibility criteria for
the academic programmes they wish to join.
12. The verification of eligibility is done in the University only after the allotment.
Therefore if a candidate registers option for a programme/branch for which he is
not eligible, that will adversely affect his chances of getting admission in the
University. The candidate alone shall be responsible for such instances wrong
selection of academic programmes.
13. Maintaining the confidentiality of the password and other login details shall be the
responsibility of the candidate alone.
14. INDIVIDUAL CALL LETTERS WILL NOT BE SENT TO THE
CANDIDATES FOR ANY ADMISSION PROCEDURE. CANDIDATES
ARE ADVISED TO GO THROUGH THE SCHEDULE AND TO REPORT
FOR COUNSELLING/ADMISSION ON THE SPECIFIED DATES. FOR
DETAILS SEE SCHEDULE OF ADMISSION PROCEDURE FOR
BTech/5Yr LLB(BBA/BCOM)/5Yr MSc PHOTONICS PUBLISHED IN
THE SITE.
COUNSELLING / ALLOTMENT (detailed instructions for counselling will be
published separately)
15. There will not be any online allotment.
16. Candidates should report and register for counseling/admission on the specified
date as per the counseling schedule published in the web site. The candidates
must register themselves at the counselling venue. Only the registered
candidates will be considered for allotment. The allotment list will be published at
the site immediately after the registration.
17. After the allotment, the allotted candidates should confirm their admission by
paying the prescribed fees and submitting the required certificates failing which
their candidature will be summarily cancelled and they will not be considered
against any vacancies henceforth.
18. Candidates who do not report for counseling on the specified date and time as per
schedule will not be considered for admission in the University. Such candidates
will be summarily removed from all waiting lists. But they may participate in spot
admissions.
19. After each allotment the candidate shall have the liberty to cancel (in writing) all
or any of his higher options. The higher option cancellation can be done only after
confirmation of admission by paying the required amount of fee. This facility can
be availed only once in the whole allotment process and can be done at the
centralized counseling venue only.
20. Schedule of spot admissions will be published later. All candidates listed in the
rank list are eligible to participate in the Spot admissions.
21. As soon as a candidate gets allotment against a particular option, all his/her lower
options will be automatically cancelled. However, he/she shall be eligible for
automatic updation to his/her higher options unless he/she cancels all his/her
higher options in writing.
22. For first year B tech programmes, candidates having “Kerallite” status only are
eligible for State Merit seats with concessional rate of fees in the School of
Engineering (SOE-Thrikkakkara campus), Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine
Engineering (Thrikkakkara campus) and in Cochin University College of
Engineering Kuttanadu (CUCEK-Pulincunnoo campus). Others are not eligible
for State Merit seats.
How to register online options- Step-by-step Procedure
1. Take a print out of this instruction manual and read it carefully.
2. In order to register options candidates should login to their home page using their
user name and password.
3. In the candidate’s home page click on the appropriate link to proceed to option
registration.
4. For B Tech/M Sc photonics the candidates should enter their marks carefully. For
Post Graduate programmes there is no mark entry.
5. Candidates should now choose their “Kerallite” or “Non-Kerallite” status. For B
Tech Lateral entry programmes this selection is not required.
6. Candidate can exercise as many options as he prefers.
7. From the available option list box on the left side the candidate can add as many
options as required to the “selected options box” on the right side. For this the
candidate should first select the option he/she wish to choose and then click the
Add button. The selected option will now appear in the “selected options box” on
the right side.
8. The order of the selected options can be changed using the Move Up or Move
Down button. Selected options can be removed using the Remove button.
9. Now click Submit button to get the preview of the options exercised by the
candidate.
10. Candidate can now click Confirm button to finalize the option registration
procedure or click Back button to go back to the previous page to make changes.
11. Candidates can edit their options or marks till the last date of option registration
specified separately for each programmes.
12. After finalizing their options candidates should take print out of their options and
should terminate their session by clicking the logout button.
13. No changes will be permitted after the last date of option registration under any
circumstances.
