COURSE SUMMARY: The CMS Final Rule, published on January 16, 2014, amended Medicaid
regulation for home and community-based services waivers under section 1915(c) of the Social
Security Act to provide requirements regarding characteristics of settings that are home and
community-based as well as settings that may not be home and community-based. The CMS Final
Rule for HCBS Waivers: An Overview course is the first in a series addressing how the CMS Final
Rule impacts ODP and the Consolidated Waiver, Person/Family Directed Support Waiver, and Adult
Autism Waiver. This presentation is meant to provide an overview of the Rule and a review of
ODP’s transition plans.
ADDITIONAL DETAIL: ODP plans to provide additional webcasts as we begin to implement the
transition plans and other activities needed to comply with the CMS Final Rule by March 2019. It is
ODP’s intent to keep all stakeholders informed as decisions are made and more detailed
information becomes available. This initial webcast will be available as a credited trained until
August 17, 2015. At the end of this time period, it will be moved to professional development.
