District Cross Country Championships
On Thursday 7 May, a squad of 30 enthusiastic
Junior School students went to Canterbury
College to represent our College at the 2015
District Cross Country Championships.
After recently being promoted to the B Division
our College came a creditable 3rd overall. Five
runners have now been invited to compete this
Friday in the Cross Country Championships to be
held here at Rivermount for a spot in the Gold
Coast Scenic Rim Team. I would like to
congratulate all runners for a great team effort,
all the parents who came to support, Mrs Coutts
(Team Manager) and the following students who
finished in the top 10 from 110 runners per race.

JTAS Open Netball Team
On Saturday the 9 May, the Rivermount College
JTAS Open Netball Team played against The
Springfield Anglican College Junior Open Blue
Team. We had a close win of 10 goals to 9. Our
team played very well and displayed great
teamwork and effort. Haylee Broccardo was
amazing in Goal Attack, and with Ashleigh and
Kaila Knight as strong Wing Attack and Wing
Defence, we were able to set up and score some
great goals.

Year 6 Rugby Team
On Saturday 9 May, the Year 6 Rugby boys drove to Karrabin to play against West Moreton Anglican College. The boys got
straight into warm-up mode with coach Scott Reid at the helm, ready to take the field.
The Referee explained the procedure of contested scrums and we were ready to play. We gained momentum quickly and were
very good in our defence, with brilliant work by Harry Griffith, Maddy Linsday, Mitchell Kennedy, Charles Smallacombe and Denver
Gierke. Unfortunately WestMac broke through on two occasions, leading 12 – 0 at half time.
After a pep talk from the coach and some magic watermelon from Mrs Marcia Reid, the boys headed back onto the field with
determination and after a scrum feed, Max Reid, with the help of his team mates Joel Bennett, Jaxon Meyers and Sullivan
Edwards, pushed his way over the line to score our first try. The next break came from Mackay Cullen who broke through defence
and flew across the field to score. Shortly after, Juan Kuncon snuck around defence to be the next try scorer right under the posts.
Jai Charlton was in the right place to be the fourth try scorer on the day. Connor Baruksopulo came onto the field and had a great
first game with the team. Jai Charlton also converted 3 tries out of 4. We had defeated WestMac 26 to 12!
It was a fantastic way to begin the season. Many thanks to our wonderful parent supporters and to Mrs Jarmille
Retchford-Stanfield for all her hard work in training our boys. See you at the next game!

Team Manager
Year 6 Netball Team
On 9 May, the Year 6 Netball girls played Springfield Anglican College. We all played a great game but unfortunately we lost 16 –
0. The entire team put in 110% effort and played well together. Special mention to Jade Lew who managed to put the ball through
the net but unfortunately it wasn’t counted. Good luck for our next game.
Holly Atkinson
Year 6
Year 8 Netball
On Saturday 9 May, at The Springfield Anglican College campus, the Year 8 RMC Netball team played with spirit and integrity.
This was the first time the girls had played together as a team and for some it was their first netball game. Even though the girls
lost the game, they worked very hard over the four quarters with that wonderful RMC fighting spirit. By the end of the game the
improvement of the girls across the court was evident. Special mention goes to Georgie-May Walker who shot a large percentage
of the goals and for her leadership on court which was greatly appreciated by all the players.
