It’s almost time for the 2015 BIA Free Comic Book Day! Taking
place the first Saturday in May, Free Comic Day will feature a truly
“super” variety of activities and action packed fun! Among the
activities are….
Roaming Jugglers:
Mike and Kayla will wander the downtown intriguing you with
their amazing juggling routine.
Puppet Show:
The Carleton Place Public Library is soaring to new heights and
welcoming puppet troop Rock The Arts! The troop will be bravely
presenting their all-ages show Superhero Showdown! The show
takes a look behind the mask of costumed superheroes and
explores what really makes a puppet or hero super. There will be
t wo shows with a limit of 45 attendees per show. The show is
sponsored in part by Scotiabank Carleton Place. 101 Beckwith
Street Carleton Place. The shows will be presented at 12:30 p.m.
and 1:30 p.m.

Korny Klowns is known for creating thrilling painted faces and
you can have yours done for free. Korny Klowns will be bringing
their new 14 foot trailer that will be set up on the grass in front
of the post office on Bridge Street.
The Carleton Place Canoe Club is hosting the Marvel BBQ where
all superheroes can refuel and gain the energy they need to keep
fighting crime! The BBQ will be offering up all kinds of different
snacks including Bam Burgers, Holy Smokes Batman Sausages,
Wonder Dogs, Flash pop, Zap juice and KaBoom Water! The price
of the snacks ranges from $1.00 to $4.00. Superheroes are also
invited to come decorate a Wham cupcake for $1.00.
Farmers Market
Come and meet the new mascot of the Carleton Place Farmers
Market booth in front of the Post Office on Bridge Street. This
delightful rabbit is a Super Hero at crunching down locally grown
vegetables and fruit! The market opens May 9th at Market
Square (Beckwith and Lake) bringing fresh local products from

designed specifically for BIA Free Comic Book Day. They will be

Here’s your chance to get your picture taken with your favorite
superhero or supervillain! A backdrop featuring the masked mar vels
will be set up at Tania’s Dance Studio and younger superheroes will be
able to pick which side they want featured in their very own picture!
Is celebrating Canadian Authors for Indies Day by hosting t wo
extraordinary local storytellers. Award winning Ottawa Valley
Broadcast journalist, an accomplished author, and beloved storyteller
Mary Cook from 1-2:30pm. The second author columnist and
entrepreneur Linda Seccespina, writes stores about her menopausal
life and a host of other things that annoy her from 2:30-4 pm.

Cat Woman
Cat woman from Darlene’s Creepiest Creations will be a part of the
