Who is it for?
All families who want to improve their sailing and have fun. Children from 8 years to 16
years must be accompanied by an adult (as a participant or a helper). Above 16 years are
considered as adults.
Where is it?
The event will be based at Dittisham Sailing Club.
Cost:
Children £50, Adults £70. Discounts are available for a family of 4 or more. Adults
attending as helpers do not need to pay. All participants must be able to swim 25 metres
unaided.
Content:
Each day will consist of a session of Instructor lead training followed by supervised fun family
sailing/boating time - we hope to be able to offer Kayaking, Yacht sailing, Powerboat driving,
and water games. One day will offer an up river voyage for a barbecue (weather permitting).
Boats:
If you have your own boat, please bring and use it. It must have current insurance. The club
will provide a fleet of Toppers for children learning to sail and there will also be stable Wayfarers for
family sailing plus Fevas & Lasers for adults. We also hope to offer the use of ballasted dayboats for
adult sailing or cruisers for those wishing to learn in something bigger.
Clothing:
If sailing in dinghies each participant will need a windproof top, wetsuit or drysuit and shoes
plus a buoyancy aid (min 50N). We have a few buoyancy aids available to borrow. If sailing in
a dayboat or a cruiser, wellingtons, waterproofs and a buoyancy aid will be required.
How to apply:
Complete the accompanying form and return asap along with the payment as places are
limited and will be allotted on a first come first served basis.
