Pathway: Successful completion of this course will provide students with the practical skills and knowledge that will
support further studies and future employment opportunities within the Animal Care and Management industry.
Program Description: This course is an entry level program which has been developed in consultation with Gilles
Plains TAFE and the Rostrevor College Veterinarian Ms. Carol Mayes. Students who actively participate in the program
will learn basic principles of the animal industry such as:- animal health and nutrition, routine care and maintenance,
cage and enclosure design, basic animal behaviour, correct animal handling techniques and safe working practices.
The 16 week program will adopt a practical approach to the industry with students undertaking workplace activities at
a local wildlife park and animal care agencies.
