As I begin to write this newsletter and think about this past week,
"Teacher Appreciation Week," there are not enough superlatives
to describe the week. "Wow,"!! "Incredible," "Unbelievable," and
"Kindness Galore"! have been some of the feelings expressed over
these last five days. The teachers' doors have been decorated
representing different themes, amazing food, flowers and plants to
enjoy, gifts, acts of kindness and all the caring from children and
parents. We all want to thank each and every one of you, and please
know that we appreciate everything you have done for us during this
very special week. "You have truly filled all of our buckets!" and
tummies too!
Tomorrow, the seventh and eighth grade students will leave for their
year end trip to visit Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National
Parks. The students will be focusing on three main educational
goals: They will be learning about the geology of the land, the natural
history of studying movement of peoples across the United States,
and they will also bring their studies of the characteristics of a
culture and community to life as they learn about Native peoples and
early explorers to the desert southwest. The students will be visiting
early cabins and seeing petroglyphs and cliff dwellings as well as
hiking the Narrows, visiting the Human History Museum
and canyoneering. Our middle school travelers will be returning to
school on Friday, May 15, at approximately 3pm. We wish them well
and also a safe journey.
Last week's triathlon was a huge success. We raised over $1,300
for Camp Wyapiapi participants. Way to go!!
Ms. K and Broomfield Academy staff would like to give special
thanks the following parents:
* Terrie Ames, for the goody bags that ALL participants
received (from MC Holdings)
* The Ertl family for a ton of hats, posters, and auto-related
goodies (from Volvo and Sill-Terhar)
* Nicole MacMillan for a rolling backpack full of goodies (from
Pilatus)
* Tracey Odegard for donated gift cards to Target and AMC
Movies
* Randi Scherr for a donation from the Lakeshore Athletic Club
for 1-month family pass
* Aimee Dorman who brought in water bottles from Huntington
Learning
Ms. K adds:
"And our parent volunteers were AWESOME!! So helpful and
flexible and really made everything go smoothly! A special
shout out to Sharon Hansen for her hard work to quickly
enter/compute our results."

Summer 2015 Prep and Camp Program Information: Sign-Up
Now!
Again this year, Broomfield Academy will offer two summer program options: the Academic Prep
Program and the Summer Enrichment Camp. Brochures that describe the program are also on the
'summer fun' link on the school website.
Children in the Summer Academic Prep programs will focus on enriching
and sharpening their academic skills for the fall. This academic program
provides a balanced approach to learning, fun and exercise during the
summer. There will be a JK prep class, a kindergarten prep class, an
elementary prep class an intermediate prep class and a senior prep class,
open to children ages 3+.
Students in The Broomfield Academy Summer
Enrichment Camp will enjoy one-week sessions focused on fun and educational
arts- and science-related topics. This year's sessions include
space, culture, geography, technology, art, sports, music, cooking and pets.
Families can attend for the entire summer or for just the weeks they desire.
Please see the program materials for additional schedule and program details.
The Broomfield Academy summer program is open to all area children, regardless
of which elementary school they attend. As during the school year, sibling
discounts are offered. In both programs there will be fun and educational weekly
field trips as well as plenty of swimming and outdoor fun. The registration deadline
for the summer programs is May 14, 2015. To reserve a spot for your child, click
