VISTA Member Activities and Steps Checklist
Goal of the Project (from VISTA Project Plan):
Faith that Works’ Hispanic Outreach Project goal is to alleviate poverty through
empowering low-income individuals living in the Chesterfield Mobile Home Park to
support productive members of society, active in their educational and social choices,
enabling parents to advocate their children’s future while strengthening the bonds of
families and the community as a whole. The project is designed to increase literacy
among adults and children. By increased literacy this will lead to opportunities for better
employment, improve educational and social literacy, and empower the children to
succeed in school gauged by academic success. To achieve this goal, the responsibilities
of the Development Coordinator VISTA position will include creating and maintaining
an infrastructure to support fund development efforts, thereby helping to ensure the
financial sustainability of the organization.
Targeted Beneficiary Population:
The Chesterfield Mobile Home Park has a population of over 300 people that are 80%
Hispanic. The Hispanic Outreach Project will target both children kindergarten to 5th
grade in the Rockwood School District attending Wild Horse Elementary School and
their families living in the Chesterfield Mobile Home Park.
During the 2015-16 school year, our program implementation will include students in the
Rockwood School District which serves 21,351 students overall with 570 students
attending Wild Horse Elementary School.
VAD Goal: The Development Coordinator VISTA will alleviate poverty by building the
capacity of Faith that Works in the area of fund development as a means to acquire and
retain new donors for the organization through special events, grants and corporate and
churches sources. By connecting community members and organizations to the mission
of Faith that Works, the community will increase its giving to the organization,
