Now is the time to enroll your child for kindergarten! If you have a child who will be five years old
by September 1, 2015, please stop by the office to pick up an enrollment packet. We invite all
‘soon to be kindergarten students’ and an adult to our Kindergarten visitation day, Wednesday, April
1 at 1:00 pm. You and your child will visit Westview kindergarten classrooms, tour the building,
meet with the principal, and enjoy a snack.
Fitzgerald offers the state funded FREE preschool, Great Start Readiness Program, for children who
are 4 years of age on or before September 1, 2015. Our GSRP program has a 4 star rating, is taught
by highly qualified teachers, and incorporates developmentally appropriate curriculum. Morning
and afternoon sessions are offered four days a week. Call 586-757-3343 for further information.

Test Fest
The Test Fest was held the week of February 9th.
Test Fest was kicked off with an exciting “Rock”
assembly. Students were excited to see Mrs.
Swalec and some of the teachers rocking out to
“Rock the Test.” Test Fest helped prepare
students for the big test; which is called the MStep. Third, fourth, and fifth graders each spent a
whole day rotating to different classes. Students
were divided into five groups and went to sessions
covering technology, reading, and writing.

FEATURE TEACHER - Mrs. Johnson
Mrs. Johnson was chosen for Feature Teacher because of her
loving nature. To start things off, she has been teaching for
eight years. During her career, she has taught in three
different elementary schools, Westview, Schofield, and Conner
Creek Academy. She taught 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grades. Mrs.
Johnson grew up in Oak Park, Michigan. When she isn’t busy
with school work, she loves to design invitations, plan
parties, and spend time with her husband, two sons, and her
furry dog. The Johnson’s like to travel, camp, and have
fun. The best family trips they have taken were two Disney
Cruises. Fun and adventure was had by everyone on the deep
blue seas.

This month we will examine the meaning of W and what it
means to WORK TOGETHER. Working together means being
part of a team and this requires people to work cooperatively
towards a shared purpose. In the wild, a wolf pack may be
working together to find food or build a den. At Westview our
wolf pack works together in many important ways too: working
in pairs, small groups, classroom projects, and school-wide
activities.
Some great ways for Westview Wolves to WORK TOGETHER
include:
 Respect each other’s differences, unique abilities, and
opinions
 Give your very best effort for yourself and for the good
of the wolf pack
 Stick with it, follow through and complete tasks
 Be a good sport and teammate
It feels great to be part of the Wolf Pack and WORK
TOGETHER! Can you think of other ways to work together at
school? Discuss your ideas with friends and family

On February 25th, student council members took a field trip to
Chatterton Middle School with Ms. Dixon. The student council
members from Westview and Mound Park were invited to have
breakfast at Chatterton. While students enjoyed a bagel and
juice, Mrs. Maleszyk taught the students about life at

Events learned about Charger bucks, raffles,

sports, and various activities that are held at Chatterton. It
was an awesome experience.
