 Performance
The System
Aquaflex Waterproof Adhesive is not affected by
moisture and can be used:
 insitu %RH (ASTM F-2170) to 100%
 MVER (ASTM F-1869) >15lbs/1000sf/day
 pH (ASTM F-710) to 14
Aquaflex cures tack free and will remain unchanged with
any level of moisture or pH indefinitely.
The Aquaflex Moisture Mitigation System includes
the following which is supplied for each project:
 Aquaflex VCT - waterproof adhesive
 Gundlach WHA trowel for application
 Aquaflex Patch Mix - waterproof skim coat
 Aquaflex 1:1 Polymer - to be mixed with patch
 Aquaflex Remover
 Sponge for clean up
 Speed
Aquaflex is the only moisture mitigation product that
allows installation in active locations.
 Demo existing floor covering
 Prep the concrete substrate
 Install new floor covering
 Cure to foot traffic in <3hrs.

Surface Preparation
 Conduct moisture evaluations prior to installation
per floor covering manufacturer's recommendations.
Always consult technical advice prior to installation.
Each concrete substrate is unique.

with a planetary diamond-bit grind method or

 All concrete surfaces must be prepared prior to
adhesive application per ASTM F710 consisting flat,
dry porous and free of dust, dirt, wax, cut-back, paint,
grease, oil, curing agents, mold, bond breakers,
residual alkaline salts, densifiers, hardeners or any
other foreign material that would inhibit bond. Use
only mechanical methods to clean existing sub-floor.
Fill cracks, holes, and depressions using only
materials designed for this intended purpose. Never
use adhesive to fill cracks over or expansion joints.
 The installation area should be acclimated to at least
60°F for 24 hrs prior, during and 72 hrs following the
installation procedure. Do not install if temperature
exceeds 85° F. The concrete MUST be smooth, dry,
porous and dust-free in order to facilitate bonding
with adhesive.
Commercial VCT Installation
Aquaflex adhesive is a wet set adhesive, never spread more
adhesive than can be worked in 30 minutes.
Use the supplied trowel. TROWEL ACCURATELY, do not
leave clumps or “snake tracks” of glue. Upon opening pail,
slice tie, open bag and pour adhesive into pail. Apply
adhesive until the pail is ½ empty then switch to a new trowel
edge. Plan to install in sections. The section size must be
easy to control within the given operating time which is
typically about 30 minutes.
Acclimate all flooring materials per manufacturer's
recommendation prior to the installation process. Due to
varying concrete substrate conditions it is recommended that
an adhesion test be performed prior to the installation
process. Refer to the flooring manufacturer on proper
installation method. Consult technical service for job specific
recommendations.
 Damp mop area prior to application of adhesive to
remove any surface dust. Spread the adhesive over the
smooth freshly prepared concrete surface using only the
trowel supplied by Formulators. Maintain the correct size of
notch at all times.
 Aquaflex is a “WET SET” adhesive, after spreading the
adhesive allow approximately 20-30 minutes of flash time.
When the adhesive is ready to accept the material, gently lay
the tile in place. Avoid sliding tile into place. Displace the
weight of your body with adequate knee guards. A 50
minute working time for tile placement into the Aquaflex
adhesive must be observed (timing to start, when adhesive
application begins).
 Do not leave visible wet adhesive at the seam. Any excess
Aquaflex adhesive in the seam area should be cleaned.
 Aquaflex adhesive will set hard and cure to a non-tacky
state. The adhesive will begin to “close” or set-up for final
bond in approx 45 minutes after initial application of glue by
trowel.
 Roll flooring immediately upon grab with an articulated
100lb roller lengthwise, and then again at a right angles to the
first line of direction per flooring manufacturer’s instructions.
Roll only once unless directed otherwise.
Premature Trafficking
Protect fresh installations with masonite sheets from heavy
traffic and rolling point load for at least 3hrs in order to allow
the adhesive to cure properly after installation. Premature
traffic, heavy rolling loads, etc. may result in tracking,
indentation, de-bonding etc.
Coverage rates of 700-800sf/unit
Clean-Up & Storage
Adhesive should never be used a strategy for leveling a
concrete surface. Do not use adhesive to fill gaps,
cracks or voids in the concrete. If adhesive is left in
pail for storage, it will skin over. Prior to using stored
material, remove the adhesive skin.
Store in a clean, dry, warm area to ensure ease of
application. Shelf life is one year from the date of
manufacture. Reseal partial containers by covering the
open pail with two pieces of plastic drop cloth,
securing lid and carefully turning the pail up-side
down. To reopen turn the pail right-side up, remove lid
and cut plastic liner out with cured adhesive attached.
Uncured material is suitable for use.
NOTE: Practice 'Clean as You Work' methods. Call
Customer Service if contamination results.
Formulators provides Aquaflex Cleaner which is a safe
cleaner found effective on cured Aquaflex residue.
Warranty
Formulators warrants Aquaflex free from defects in
material and workmanship for a period of ten (10)
years when properly installed, and not to delaminate
due to ANY sub-slab moisture level. Shelf life limited
to one year from date of manufacture, stored in an
unopened container at 70°F.
