 NOTICE OF THE GITXAALA BY-ELECTION FOR CHIEF
COUNCILLOR
Be advised, there will be a by-election on Wednesday August 5, 2015 between 9:00 am
and 8:00pm

Prince Rupert – Museum of Northern BC, Ceremonial Hall – 100 First Ave West
Gitxaala – Adult Education Building
The position of the Governing Council to be Elected by the Electors pursuant to the Gitxaala
Nation Custom Election Code is:
One (1) Chief Councillor elected by the Electors
Mail-in Ballots
If you live outside of Prince Rupert or Gitxaala you will automatically be sent a mail-in ballot
on July 6, 2015.
If you live in Prince Rupert or Gitxaala but will not be able to vote at a voting station on
August 5, you can request a mail-in ballot by contacting any member of the Electoral Board.
Instructions on mail-in ballots will be included in mail-in ballot package.
Identification
On the day of the Election, you need to bring photo identification. This includes:

Drivers Licence
Passport
Hunting/Fishing/Firearms Licence
BC Services Care Card
ID’s can be expired so long as Electoral Officers can recognize the Elector.
If you do not have photo id, you can contact Anita Watts to get a letter confirming your
identity.
