Are You Ready to Install?
Use our pre-installation checklist below to make sure all items are in place before beginning the
installation process. For further explanation, please read the official Goliath Performance Monitor
Requirements on page 4 or contact a support engineer at [email protected].






Virtual Server or Physical Machine with the proper settings
 Windows Server 2008 R2 – 2012 R2
 At least 8 vCPUs and 12GB RAM
.NET 3.5 SP1 installed on the Virtual Server or Physical Machine
Internet Explorer Enhanced Security disabled
TCP ports 80 & 82 opened inbound
Download the Goliath Performance Monitor software
Proper credentials for the environments you would like to add to inventory (vCenter, XenServer, ZDC,
DDC, etc)

Note:
On Windows Server 2012, .NET 3.5 SP1 needs to be installed from the Features Wizard as
.NET 4.5 is not backwards compatible. To view documents, please have a PDF reader available. GPM can
be accessed over the network or WAN to your local computer

Goliath Performance Monitor Server: TCP ports 80 & 82 both must be open
inbound; and port 80 must be enabled outbound for remote access to the console.

Note: These ports can be changed from the default as needed

needed on all Windows 8 – 10 Virtual Desktops.

Introduction to Goliath Performance Monitor 11.5
Goliath Performance Monitor from Goliath Technologies is ushering in a new paradigm in managing the
complexity in XenApp and XenDesktop environments. The solution has been architected based on the input
from customers, technology and service provider partners like Citrix as well as integrators. We have listened to
the difficulties they all have managing virtual desktop environments, specifically XenApp and XenDesktop, and
the limited management tools available to them.
Goliath Performance Monitor 11.5 delivers significant proactive monitoring and troubleshooting enhancements
for the users of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop. The solution now gives greater clarity and understanding to IT
professionals tasked with delivering end-user experiences through XenApp and XenDesktop, by enabling new
drill down and correlation enhancements which link applications/user/server performance. XenApp and
XenDesktop which allows quickly pinpoints points of failure, enables quick troubleshooting and delivers
proactive remediation and alerting capabilities for the entire XenApp and XenDesktop environment – keeping
virtual application and desktop sessions running smoothly without interruption.
Goliath Performance Monitor Evaluation License
Goliath Performance Monitor’s Evaluation allows you to configure every aspect of the product without
limitation including hypervisor integration, agent deployments, XenApp & XenDesktop integration, building
custom dashboards, alerting, reporting, and more. The evaluation includes the following license allowances:

Environment Prerequisites Explained
Prior to installing Goliath Performance Monitor and configuring it for your environment, we suggest you gather
and have available the following infrastructure details, authentication credentials, and network traffic rules
prepared to facilitate implementation.
1. Infrastructure
o Have available IP Addresses and hostnames/FQDN to:
 vCenter(s)
 XenServer Pool Master(s)
 XenApp: Data Collector
 Network
 Network Device Management IP address
 SNMP community string
 Configure device to send SNMP & Syslog to Goliath Performance Monitor
o SMTP Server Address
o If configuring remote environment, WAN IP of site where Goliath Performance Monitor
will be deployed
2. Authentication
o Domain Administrator credentials for Windows Servers
o root credentials for any Linux/Unix systems
o VMWare vCenter user with Administrator rights
o XenServer Pool Master user with administrator rights or root user
3. Network Security
o If internal traffic exceptions/routing is necessary, Goliath Performance Monitor agents
maintain a TCP connection on port 82
o If administrators will be accessing Goliath Performance Monitor from their desktops then
an exception for TCP traffic on 80 is necessary
o For communication to Master Agents and agents deployed to remote environments
Goliath Performance Monitor will need a NAT policy for port 82 back to the Goliath
Performance Monitor server.
