Day 1 (AB CD)

Variety Night – would you like to perform at Highland’s Variety Night on Friday, May 8? Please see Ms.
Jerome in the library today.

Grade 8 & 9 Girls Event at Isfeld – remember the bus leaves tomorrow at 9:00am sharp.

IB – there is a very important meeting for all year 2 IB students on Wednesday at 12:00pm, in Mr. Black’s
room. We will be discussing the exams in May.

Badminton Club – today from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. All levels are welcome. Come on out and have a blast.

Track & Field – Practice today after school at Vanier. Last chance to get permission slips and money in
today. Every athlete must have a singlet (uniform). The bus leaves Highland at 8:00am tomorrow morning
for the North Islands in Port Alberni. Be prepared for the weather.

Golf – team meeting at lunch today in room #213.

Girls’ Soccer – practice after school today.

Senior Girls’ Soccer – see Mr. Bakker at lunch regarding the qualification tournament on Wednesday at
Isfeld.

Junior Girls’ Soccer – North Islands in Ladysmith, April 30 to May 1.

Bottle Drive – to support drilling drinking water wells in developing countries. Please bring empty drink
containers from home to support the “We are Clean Water Project”. You can drop them off in Ms. Mather’s
classroom #225.
WORK EXPERIENCE

First Credit Union and Insurance is partnering with the Comox Valley Secondary High Schools to offer the
#CULEAD Young Leaders Program for up to three graduating grade 12 students. This program gives
students practical work experience and mentoring from successful business professionals on a wide range of
topics that will help to prepare them as they look towards their future careers. Upon the successful
completion of the program, students will receive a cash scholarship of $1200. Over 80 local students have
participated in this program in our Powell River community since it started in 2004 and we are excited to
bring the opportunity to this region. More information in the work experience office.


Guest List for After Grad Celebration - If you are planning to bring a guest to this event on
Mt. Washington, you need to sign up in the main office. Cost for a guest is $70. Deadline for requesting a
guest to be included is Friday, May 15.

