4-H Club Meetings for April 2015
Lipan 4-H - Thursday, April 2nd, at 6:30 pm at the Lipan Community Center
Young Riders - Monday, April 6th at 6:30 pm, Reunion Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall
Tolar 4-H - Tuesday, April 7th, at 6:30 pm at the Tolar Fire Hall
Lake Granbury Community 4-H - Monday, April 13th, at 7:00 pm at the Hood
County Annex 1 Meeting Room
Sharp Shooters 4-H - Meets every Thursday of each month at 5:00 pm at the
Reunion Fairgrounds, with regular business meeting the 3rd Thursday of each month
Cornerstone 4-H - Monday, April 13th, at 4:15 pm at Cornerstone Christian
Academy (CCA has moved to the Church of Christ across from Granbury High School)
Kids, Dogs & More Project Group– Meets every 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month, at
7:00 pm at Reunion Fairgrounds
County Stock Show Checks
We have received the county stock show checks, and they are ready to be
picked up. If you have delivered your buyers plaques and have turned in all your
thank you notes you may come and pick your check up at the Extension Office.
Stock Show Update
Congratulations to all of our 4-H’ers who participated in the 2015 Major Stock Shows. To date
4-H’ers have earned $59,111.50 in premium money and scholarships.
Club Friend of 4-H
Don’t forget each club will need to elect a Friend
of 4-H and have their council representatives
bring it to the May Meeting.
Record Books and Awards Applications
Record Books and Awards Applications are due on June 12, 2015.
If you are attending State 4-H Roundup, you will need to turn
them in before we leave that week!
Firefighter Appreciation Hot Dog Dinner
The County 4-H Council elected to conduct an Appreciation Dinner for Hood County Firefighters
on Thursday, April 30, 2015. Everyone is welcome to come help cook and say thank you. We are
asking clubs to help out by bringing the following items:
Lake Granbury: Chips & Side
Cornerstone: Plates/Napkins/Silverware
Sharp Shooters: Drinks/Ice/Cups
Tolar: Condiments
Lipan: Desserts
We will send out more details soon!
Horse Project Validation/Horseshow
Just a reminder of you want to show at the District or State Horse Show you will need
to validate your horse by April 15, 2015 cost is $10 per horse. There will be a late
validation period between April 15th & May 1st, but the cost will go up to $20. Be
sure to start transferring papers on any registered horse you may have purchased
now so it will be done in time. You will upload your pictures and registration paper
on your 4-H Connect profile. If you need help contact the office.

Time: The Competitive Rifle Match Shooting will begin at 8:00am.
(Shooting times will be staggered)
The Provisional Light Rifle Match will begin following the completion of the Competitive Rifle Match.
A more detailed shoot schedule will be distributed after receiving entries.
Registration: Contact your Hood County Extension Office for entry information. Deadline to enter is April
15, 2015.
2015 Shooting Sports Extravaganza Registration
Registration for the 2015 Shooting Sports Extravaganza is now open on 4-H Connect.

Gun Safety Course
There will be a Hunters Gun Safety
Course held on Saturday, August

Livestock News for March
State Fair Lamb & Goat Validation
If you are interested in showing a Lamb or Goat at the State
Fair we need your validation and tag orders by April 8, 2015.
Tags are $11 each.
2015 Howard College Lamb & Goat Camps
We just received info for these two camps offered in Big Spring over the
summer. These are great camps with tons of good information and speakers. The cost is $85 per person. You are responsible for your own lodging.
Lamb Camp is June 7th –9th. and Goat Camp is June 14th -16th

Aggieland Lamb
&Goat Camp
Join us in Aggieland for a FUN and EXCITING 3 day program dedicated
to educating students on the fundamentals of feeding, nutrition, health,
facilities, and selection with plenty of showmanship and Quality Counts
information!

District Rifle Contest
Age Divisions: Junior, Intermediate & Senior
District Contest Date: May 2nd, 2015
The District Rifle Contest is a competitive shooting contest with several different categories Seniors can qualify
for State at the Texas 4-H Roundup.
Leaders 4 Life (Parli. Pro)

District Contest Date: April 30th
The Leaders 4 Life Program provides resources to equip
clubs in conducting high quality leadership training,
parliamentary procedure training, and service
learning activities.
District Roundup
District Roundup will be on April 18, 2015 in Meridian.
If you want any help with your presentation, we are more than happy to do it.
DON’T WAIT until the last minute to ask. Our schedules fill up really quickly.
County & Club Officer Elections
May is usually the month that we elect officers for the next 4-H year. If
you want to run for a club officer position, you need to contact your club
manager to find out the specifics. We will host County Council Officers
in May. If you wish to be on County Council, you must be elected as
President, Vice President, or County Delegate. Contact Mrs. Langdon if
you have questions about County Council!
Ag Ambassadors
Mark your calendar for June 4th & 5th for our Ag Ambassador
program and tour. More information to come.
When: June 19‐21, 2015 Where: Collin County Adventure Camp; Anna, TX Registra on: 4‐H Connect ‐ opens May 1 – May 31, 2015 Contest Fee: $30/per contestant Lodging & Meals Op ons: ● $100/person – two nights + 5 meals ● Lodging is available and encouraged for contestants and non‐contestants ● Dorm lodging is for Friday and Saturday night ● 3 meals on Saturday and 2 on Sunday ● Non‐contestants must register on 4‐H Connect in order to select and pay for lodging and meals (must be se‐
lected/paid for in advance) ● Adults choosing to lodge on site, must be ac vely enrolled on 4‐H Connect. Please note that background screenings may take up to 2 weeks, so please plan accordingly. The Outdoor Challenge commi ee is not responsible for providing chaperones. If coun es are sending any youth without a parent or legal guardian, the appointed chaperone must follow the child protec on proce‐
dures outlined in the Texas 4‐H Youth Protec on guidelines, administered by their respec ve county Extension office. Parents, legal guardians, and/or chaperones will be responsible for youth and must remain on‐site through the dura on of the Outdoor Challenge. Leadership Lab 2015
If you will be a freshman through senior in high school next fall, mark you calendar
for June 24th - 26th for the 2015 District 8 Leadership Lab.
It’s gonna be AWESOME!
If you want to attend, you will need to register with our
office by May 15th!
