This symposium is designed to update physicians
including Internists and Infectious Disease
consultants on controversial areas in Infectious
Disease. The program will also be useful for
nurses and other allied health professionals who
deal with infectious diseases.
At the end of the program participants should be
able to:
1. Identify the role of physician prescribing in light of New Jersey’s epidemic of prescription
drug misuse and abuse and the changing
epidemiology of injection drugs;
2. Discuss the development of molecular
diagnosis;
3. Determine the natural history of HCV
epidemiology to include: extrahepatic
sequelae of hepatitis C, staging of liver disease
and current treatments of hepatitis C;
4. Describe the use of molecular diagnosis.
