ACTIVIST CLUB
HDJ Activist Club: please meet by the athletic entrance today after school for our field trip to Randall Oaks Petting
Zoo. Make sure to bring $10 for animal feed, pizza, and fun! Hope to see you there!
ALGONQUIN AREA PUBLIC LIBRARY
Finals Study Nights at the Harnish Main Library
Tuesday, May 26; Wednesday, May 27; Thursday, May 28 3-8:30 pm
Cram for the Exams! Our Study Rooms will be reserved for teen study groups to use all night long. Call 847-4586060 ext 143 to reserve a two-hour block of time for your group! Drop by the Meeting Room downstairs Tuesday
and Wednesday and the YA section on Thursday for snacks, soda and relaxation supplies like bubble wrap to pop
and coloring sheets.
Book Buddies Volunteers Still Needed!
It's not too late to volunteer! The Algonquin Library can still use Book Buddies volunteers. Applications are
available in the Jacobs Media Center or at the Algonquin Area Public Library and are due by Sunday, May 31.
Choose from Mondays at 11am, Tuesdays at 2pm or both. Contact Jen Jazwinski, Young Adult Librarian with any

AP BIOLOGY
Attention AP Biology students for the upcoming school Year! You need to stop and see Mr. Clark in room 212A to
pick up your summer assignment. I look forward to seeing you.
AP CALCULUS
Attention students who are enrolled in any AP Calculus class for next school year: There is no summer
assignment. While you are welcome to visit Mrs. Aichinger (pronounced Eye-king-er), Ms. Dwyer, or Mr.
Lepkowski (pronounced Lep-kow-ski), you do not need to pick up any work for the summer.
AP CHEMISTRY
If you are taking AP Chemistry next year or even just considering taking AP Chemistry next year, please stop by
room 220 to pick up your AP Chemistry summer assignment. See Mr. Scharlau in room 220 for your AP Chemistry
summer assignment.
AP ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE
Any student who is signed up for AP Environmental Science for next year and did NOT receive the summer
assignment from Mr. Frazier should stop by 109 to pick up the paperwork!!
AP PHYSICS
AP Physics students please feel free to stop by and meet Mr Timm in Rm 223 . At that time Mr. Timm will to give
you a starter packet for AP Physics C to be completed over the summer.
AP PSYCHOLOGY
If you are taking AP Psychology next year, go right after school Tuesday 5/26 to room 241 for Wallace or room 249
for Begora for a 5 minute meeting and to pick up your AP Psychology summer assignment.
AP STUDIO ART
Attention 2015-16 AP studio art students. There will be an informational meeting, lasting approximately an hour,
after school on Thursday, May 28. Course syllabi, summer work, and some materials will be provided.
ATTENDANCE
Attn: Students – Any students, who will not be present for finals next week, must bring a note from your parents to
Mrs. Christensen in the Counseling Office. You will then get a pre-arranged absence form to take around for your
teachers to sign, at that time you will schedule with your teachers when to take your finals. Finals must be taken
before you leave. The last day to turn in your parents note will be Thursday, May 21.
BOYS SOCCER
Attention all boys soccer players, there will be a meeting Friday after school in room 215. This is a mandatory
meeting, all boys interested in playing next fall need to be at the meeting.
COLLEGE VISIT

Southern Illinois University will be here on Wednesday May 20 for an Application drive here at Jacobs High
School. Juniors who attend the meeting will be included in our free application drive. Now is the time to take
advantage of applying to your first college and get that head start on Senior year! Please stop in at the Counseling
Office to sign up for the presentation.
ENGLISH DEPARTMENT
By now you should have received the summer reading letter from your English teacher. If you haven’t, please ask
your English teacher about it, pick a letter up in the main office, or go on the Jacobs’ website. Books are available
for purchase THIS WEEK in the library. See the letter for more information and prices.
HIT FOR HENRY TENNIS CLINIC

Come out and join the fun, No previous tennis experience necessary. Rackets will be available if you don’t have

NURSES
End of the Year Nurse’s Notes:
2015/2016 Health Care Plans are being sent home with students. Please have them completed and returned by the
first day of school in August. Please have your parents come and pick up any remaining medication in the nurses

office by June 11 . If you want to keep medications in the nurse’s office for the next school year, a D300
medication form must be completed. The form is available in the nurse’s office and on the D300.org web page
located by the parent tab/health tab. Students are NOT ALLOWED to carry any medication on them, nor can the
Nurse’s dispense medications without the proper forms on file.

Aspiring Fashion Professional Scholarship: This is a $1,000 scholarship that will be awarded to students that are
interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can

on it. Deadline is June 1, 2015.
Aspiring Animation Professional: Scholarship Program offering high school seniors the opportunity to win a $1,000
scholarship. This will be awarded to students that are interested in pursuing an animation career path at an
accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit our website:

Students if you arrive late to school after 8.15, please remember to report to Student Services to sign in.
Failure to do so will result in disciplinary consequences. Remember to be on time Golden Eagles!
Attention students when arriving late please make sure you have your ID out. You will be asked for your
ID when entering the building. All students arriving late must use door 2. Please do not use Main
Entrance when arriving late. If you do not have an ID please stop by Student Services.

TUTORING CENTER
The tutor center will be open each day of finals week during scheduled school hours! So instead of sleeping in or
leaving early for lunch or ASP, come on down (or send your students down) to the tutor center to help finish off
the year on a high note!
VIDEO YEARBOOK
The ALL NEW Video Yearbook is complete. If you didn’t preorder yours it’s not too late! Come down to the main
office and get your copy for $20. It has highlight videos of every sport, including events such as the musical and
homecoming dance. If you ever waved at a camera roaming the halls throughout the year you’re in there too.
