Croydon Early Learning Animals
Have you met the many
animals at C.E.L.C? Our
animals are so popular
amongst the children here.
Most would be familiar with
Myrtle the turtle and Louie
the fish in the foyer but have
you seen our animal yard
outside? Or Alfred and
Blueberry our blue tounge
lizards? We even have a bird
Aviary and fish tank. The
children quite often spend
time watching the animals
and the older ones even
help to take care feeding
them and making sure their
enclosures
are clean.

Congratulations Bec
Some exciting news for you all. Bec who works in the
Kindi room is pregnant with her first child. She's very
excited and we cant wait to meet her little bundle of joy.
Shameem and Sanjay are equally excited as its another
grandchild for them to spoil.

outside play. SunSmart
practices will be finishing
after Mothers day.

The Babies
This month we met Penelope and Leo
who are settling in well to the Babies
Room and we are enjoying getting to
know them.. The babies have also been
spending some time outside on the sunny
afternoons, making the most of the
weather before it gets too wet and cold.

The Toddlers
The toddlers have been working on ‘Identity’ this month. Focusing on themselves and how they fit into the
world around them. Take a look around the toddler room next time you’re in, they have done some fantastic
identity themed craft activities that are displayed around the room.

Kindi Kids
A very big Welcome back to Jojo from maternity leave (the children are very happy to see her smiling face
in the mornings.) The Kindi kids have started working on their fine motor skills this month. They have been
working on their ‘pincer’ grip (used for picking up small objects) and ‘tripod’ grip (used for holding a pencil)
The educators have also been seeing lots of cooperative play happening, some new friendships
forming and the children starting to play games like
‘hide and seek’ in the yard together.

Kindergarten
The Kinder kids have been very
busy this month. Learning all about
under the sea. Briony and Kiran
have been very busy teaching them
some of the different creatures
that can be found in the ocean and
how we can take care of our
environment so these creatures can
live happily under the sea. On a Friday
the kinder kids walk over to the
library for a mini excursion. The get to
select some books to borrow and
carry back to childcare in special
library bags

Meet Our Management Team...
Shameem Misra
Qualifications: Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood
Has been at CELC for: 14 years
Days in the office: Monday, Wednesday Thursday. Shameem
also helps out in the rooms when needed.
Facts: Shameem and Sanjay have owned Croydon Early
Learning for 14 years now.
Sanjay Misra
Qualifications: Certificate 3 in children's services
Days in the office: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Sanjay also
helps out in the rooms when needed.
Facts: Sanjay loves to play golf and support his favourite
footy team is North Melbourne
Rebeca Misra
Qualifications: Bachelor of Speech Pathology.
Has been at CELC for: 1 year
Days in the office: Mondays. Bec also works in the kindi
room from Wednesday– Friday
Facts: Bec has two fur babies; Cyndal and Willoughby her
pet rabbits .
Cassie Dalton
Qualifications: Diploma in community services / children's services
Has been at CELC for: 9 years
Days in the office: Thursdays Cassie is the Kindi room leader. She
works within the kindi room with Bec and Jojo on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Fridays
Facts: Cassie’s cheeky son Archer attends C.E.L.C in the toddler
room

Are you wanting to know more about your child's language development? Lydelle is offering a
FREE speech pathology screening assessment that can be done while your child is in care.
Please don’t hesitate to talk to staff about your child's language and whether this screening
would be beneficial to them.
What :
The FREE Speech Pathology Screening assessments are offered by an
experienced Speech Pathologist to briefly assess children in order to
identify those who may be having difficulty with speech or language.
The screening is based on assessing age expected receptive and
expressive language, oral motor skills, articulation and speech
disorders, and comprehension. The screening takes approximately 1520 minutes. You will be provided with a single page summary of the
results of the screening. If necessary, a thorough assessment using
standardised tests and follow up strategies or therapy will be
recommended.
Who:
Children (from 18 months) who will benefit from this include those
who are :
• having difficulty being understood
• having difficulty following instructions
• using fewer words than their peers

New Daily Activity Roster
As per suggestions from parents, we have rotated the special daily activities to offer more
variety for the children. The Term 2 Roster is as follows:
