ARTIST & INFO
Hometown: Madrid, Spain
At first, the Spanish trio, Presuntos Implicados, started getting involved in their local rock scene after winning a music
contest with a song called "En El Transistor." However, their original funky style on their debut album entitled Danzad
Malditos failed to catch on. As a result, the newcomer band teamed up with Nacho Maño to make a definitive turn in their
musical direction fusing Pop and Jazz styles together. This combination for the band worked and introduced them to a
fruitful career and recognition throughout Europe, Latin America, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Alma de Blues became their
first certified double-platinum record. The successful Ser de Agua and El Pan y La Sal followed in 1992 and 1994,
respectively. In 1999, Warner released Presuntos Implicados' ambitious and interesting Version Original, featuring covers
of some of the most popular Latin hits ever, and the group witnessed multiple awards for this collection.

ALBUM FACTS
Genre: Rock Guest Artist: Beck was joined by The Imelda May Band at the Iridium Jazz Club in June 2010. Other guest
performers joining Beck onstage included Brian Setzer, Gary “U.S.” Bonds, and Trombone Shorty
Description: Jeff Beck paid fitting Tribute to Les Paul last summer, celebrating what would have been the pioneering
guitarist’s 95th birthday by playing his friend and mentor’s music, along with classic tunes from the era, in the same Times
Square nightclub that Paul played every Monday for 14 years before his death in August 2009.
Sponsored by Gibson Guitar and billed as “A Celebration of Les Paul,” Beck was joined by The Imelda May Band at the
Iridium Jazz Club in June 2010. Other guest performers joining Beck onstage included Brian Setzer, Gary “U.S.” Bonds,
and Trombone Shorty. “Les was my inspiration,” says Beck. “For years I had always wanted to do something for Les to
show him how much I respected and admired what he had done. Les used to play every week at the Iridium Jazz Club in
New York City, so for me it was the obvious and fitting place for a ‘Salute’ to him.”
ATCO will be offering a CD of this exclusive show, featuring 20 live tracks from the evening.

ALBUM FACTS
Genre: Rock Packaging Specs: 2LP 180 Gram Vinyl
Description:
When the reissue of The Cure's landmark album Disintegration arrived earlier this year, the vinyl edition featured none of
the bonus material included on the 3CD and digital editions - which is why it perhaps comes as no surprise that Entreat
Plus, the expanded edition of the band's 1990 live album, now will be released as a separate 2LP set.
Originally released as a promo disc in 1990, the eight-track Entreat - recorded at London's Wembley Arena in July 1989 was later released commercially in Europe. The expanded edition included with this year's reissue fleshes out the album to
replicate a full live performance of 1989's epic Disintegration, with tracks remixed by Robert Smith - a sonic makeover that
some fans have complained dampens Boris Williams' drumming.
ARTIST & INFO
The Cure evolved into one of the most visionary, creatively satisfying and influential groups to come of age in the 1980s.
From dreamy pop to moody expressionism, their signature sound is adventurous, hypnotic, and beautifully melodic.
It all started in 1976 as 'Easy Cure', formed by Robert Smith (vocals, guitar) along with schoolmates Michael Dempsey
(bass), Lol Tolhurst (drums) and local guitar hero Porl Thompson. They began writing and demoing their own songs almost
immediately, playing throughout 1977 in Southern England to an ever growing army of fans. In 1978 the 'Easy' was
dropped, along with Porl, and an eager trio now known simply as The Cure were quickly signed to Chris Parry's new
Fiction label.

ALBUM FACTS
Genre: Rock Producers: John Feldmann
Description: Recorded with John Feldmann, (The Used, Panic at the Disco) who acted as much as a friend and mentor
as he did producer, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows' debut is the most aggressive album Owens has made in his
musical career, yet it still retains the keen sense of melody that has helped him become one of today's most celebrated
frontmen. "It was so cathartic making this record because music is my form of therapy," he explains, "I can't wait to get out
there and play these songs live because it'll get all those feelings out," he says.
From the electro-tinged anthem "If You Think This Song Is About You, It Probably Is" - which alternates between tuneful
choruses and double-bass fueled breakdowns - to metallically charged arena-ready rockers like "The Only Thing You Talk
About," Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows is teeming with sonic surprises that will undoubtedly satisfy Owens' legions of
dedicated fans.
"These songs are so heavy that it's disgusting. Vocally it's melodic because as I grow older, I know I don't want to be a 30
year old screaming... that's just not who I am," Owens explains, adding that despite its electronic flourishes, Destroy
Rebuild Until God Shows is more of a rock band than any project he's ever previously played in. He's also quick to clarify
that despite the success of his various side-projects, such as Cinematic Sunrise and Isles & Glaciers, Destroy Rebuild
Until God Shows is a full-time project for everyone involved. "This is the only band I'm in and I've quit everything else that
I've worked on previously." He continues, "Everyone's wrapping up their past with their old bands, and we're going to move
forward with this and not look back."
Lyrically, Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows sees Owens at his most vulnerable. Instead of concentrating on wordplay as
he's done in the past, this time around, he tried to be as open and direct as possible. "I stripped away all the metaphors
and fanciness here so there was more substance," he states. "With this album and this band, I am being absolutely 100
percent honest; I'm not trying to outsmart or outwit anyone. It's just a chronicle of what I've been through." Owens stresses
that the band's title is also part of that same underlying theme. "People stereotype the name and react a certain way when
they first hear it, but the actual name for me is more about the acronym; it's about how your entire life can change in one
day and you can destroy everything but you can also rebuild it."
ARTIST & INFO
Band Members: Craig Owens, Nick Martin, Matt Good, Aaron Stern, Adam Russell
Blessings often come in disguise, and the formation of Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows (D.R.U.G.S.) is a perfect
example of how the ending of one experience can be a transformative stepping-stone toward something greater. Case in
point: When front man Craig Owens was let go from the Michigan based post-hardcore band he'd fronted since 2001, he
was faced with an uncertain situation. Instead of dwelling on it, he turned that energy into the motivation to create a new
project that would eclipse anything he's done in the past. "Over the last 12 months I've done a lot of growing as a human
being, as far as figuring out who I am," he explains. "The idea for this band stemmed from the fact that I wanted to do this
right; I wanted to make the biggest band I possibly could, and that's exactly what I've done here."
Destroy Rebuild Until God Shows is an exciting new musical project that pairs Owens alongside other musicians who
have undergone similar experiences, and join forces on a mission to create something vital and new. "I wanted to put
together all of my closest friends and the best musicians I possibly could, and begin a new project where we all could start
fresh," Owens explains. To round out the band, he selected Underminded guitarist Nick Martin, From First To Last
guitarist Matt Good, Matchbook Romance drummer Aaron Stern and Story Of The Year bassist Adam Russell. While
this group of rock veterans had never played together as a unit before, they had an undeniable chemistry from the moment
they first got together in the same room. "You're only as good as your weakest link, so I wanted to make sure everyone
was just as driven as I was," Owens clarifies.

ALBUM FACTS
Genre: Rock
Description: DevilDriver tear their way through heavy metal again with Beast, the band's fifth album for Roadrunner
Records, which is an exorcism of animalistic, primal hooks, death metal percussion and propulsive thrashing.
With Beast, DevilDriver ventured into new territory: the grooves are catchier than ever, but there's an intricacy and taut
technicality to them, representative of an angrier musical monster. Beast comes a mere two years after the band's
incredibly successful Pray for Villains, which debuted at number 35 on the Billboard Top 200. Villains even surpassed
first-week sales of their critically acclaimed 2007 outing, The Last Kind Words and 2005's The Fury of Our Maker's Hand.
It's been a constant uptick for the Southern California quintet since they first blasted a hole through the zeitgeist in 2003
with their pivotal self-titled debut.
ARTIST & INFO

While many bands in the modern era are already withering away by their second album and have shriveled up and died by
their third, DevilDriver have proven to mutate, growing stronger, deadlier and more immortal with each successive release

It's been a constant uptick for the Southern California quintet since they first blasted a hole through the zeitgeist in 2003
with their pivotal self-titled debut.

Hometown: Madrid, Spain
The Spanish pop/rock group, Hombres G was formed by ex-los Residuos guitarist Daniel Mezquita, drummer Javier
Molina, and singer/bassist David Summers, soon joined by guitarist Rafael Gutierrez. The band's name was based on an
American movie called G-Men. They soon signed up to the independent label Twins to make their debut album, featuring a
catchy song called "Devuelveme A Mi Chica," which became their first hit. In 1986, La Cagaste...Burt Lancaster was
released, followed by a South American tour. Hombres G disbanded after issuing their seventh album, La Historia Del
Bikini, in 1992 but reunited ten years later for an International tour for their 2003 release, Año Que Vivimos Peligrosamente
. Since then, the group has reunited once in a while to tour the World and offer fans their many hits from the 1980's.

Philadelphia, PA
Description:
With its dreamy, rustic take on the idea of Americana, the Low Anthem's Smart Flesh builds on the promise of the group's
universally praised 2008 Nonesuch Records debut, Oh My God, Charlie Darwin. As the Washington Post has put it, "The
Low Anthem isn't the first bunch of indie rockers to experiment with older string-band instruments and echoes of the songs
of pre-1940 rural America. But no one has done it better than this Rhode Island trio... That's because very few bands have
paid so much attention to detail, or to beauty."
To record Charlie Darwin, the three original band members-Jocie Adams, Ben Knox Miller, and Jeff Prystowskytook over a
Block Island cabin in the dead of winter. To record Smart Flesh, the group now expanded to a quartet with the addition of
drummer Mat Davidson-found a former pasta factory in Central Falls, Rhode Island, a cavernous loft space that became
crucial to the shape of the album. Says vocalist Miller, "We knew right away when we stepped into the factory that the
space was really the main instrument for the whole record. The resonance was chilling. We were able to experiment with
new recording techniques to capture the sound at different distances. Mics 100-200 feet away caught the sound barreling
across the room." Additional tracks were recorded in a garage that had previously been home to a reptile breeder, another
unconventional studio space that the quartet dubbed "the gator pit."
The group self-produced Smart Flesh, bringing in Mike Mogis (Bright Eyes, Monsters of Folk, M. Ward) to mix the Pasta
Sauce sessions and Jesse Lauter (Elvis Perkins, April Smith) to engineer. Instrumentation included jaw harp, musical saw,
stylophone, oversized drum kits, and three antique pump organs that the band had found and restored. The exquisitely
crafted, achingly spare arrangements at times recall the early recordings of Leonard Cohen, and Miller's voice, on a track
like "Burn," displays a similarly gruff yet plaintive timbre. The deeply melancholic mood the group favors, starting with a
spellbindingly slow-motion rendering of George Carter's 1920's era "Ghost Woman Blues," will appeal to fans of the
backwoods musings of Bon Iver or the lovelorn southern balladry of the Avett Brothers, with whom The Low Anthem has
toured.
ARTIST & INFO
Hometown: Providence, RI Band Members: Jocie Adams, Ben Knox Miller, Jeff Prystowsky and Mat Davidson
The Low Anthem combines folk and blues arrangements with the elegance of chamber music and the fervor of gospel.
Members Ben Knox Miller, Jeff Prystowsky, and Jocie Adams-all students of classical composition-bring a wide range of
individual interests to the band. Prystowsky is a scholar of baseball, jazz, and American history. Adams, a classical
composer and technical wizard, spent summers working an infrared spectrometer at NASA. And Miller, principle
songwriter, painter, and general ruminator, can indeed expound upon the theories of Charles Darwin. They have a
formidable work ethic, along with the ability to laugh at their maniacal intensity.
The Low Anthem grew out of the friendship of Miller and Prystowsky. As classmates together at Brown University, they
spent summers playing middle infield for a Providence wood-bat league team and shared late-night DJ duties at the
college radio station. Miller recounts, "We bonded on the 2 to 5 AM graveyard shift. It was supposed to be a jazz show, but
we could do whatever we wanted. Nobody was listening anyway." They played in a variety of bands together - "from jazz
to classical ensembles to terrible electro-something bands" - before conceiving The Low Anthem in 2006.

ALBUM FACTS

Pallas, single-pocket Stoughton jacket with CD in babypack, double sided insert and sticker.
Description: "I'm actually really shy," insists Jessica Lea Mayfield. "Not musically, but personally."
This uncommonly mature 21-year-old singer-songwriter's Nonesuch debut balances the warm-hearted with the
cold-blooded. Tell Me is a stunningly forthright 11-song set that addresses late-night longing, serial heartbreak, and
intoxicatingly dangerous liaisons conducted in dimly lit barrooms or roadside motels. By the end, the only heart intact is
Mayfield's own. It's as if she'd stripped the sentimentality and ruefulness from a bunch of classic country songs, leaving
only stark emotion. The Black Keys' singer and guitarist Dan Auerbach, who produced and engineered Tell Me at his Easy
Eye Sound System studio in Akron, Ohio, matches Mayfield's candor with eerily minimal, brilliantly constructed tracks that
keep her mesmerizing, unadorned voice front and center.
ARTIST & INFO
Kent, Ohio native Mayfield, at least as she portrays herself on record, could have walked out of a darkly dramatic Black
Keys murder ballad like "Ten Cent Pistol." In fact, many of the duo's fans first learned of Mayfield through a soulful duet
with Auerbach, "Things Ain't Like They Used To Be," that memorably closed the 2008 Black Keys disc, Attack and Release
.
Auerbach discovered Mayfield through her 2005 EP White Lies, self-pressed in a single run of 100 copies, that she'd cut at
home with her brother, David. Auerbach was impressed enough with this bedroom recording to contact Mayfield via her
Myspace page, leaving a simple message: "Hi, my name is Dan, and I play with a band called The Black Keys out of
Akron." Together, they embarked on recording Mayfield's bare-bones first album, the independently released With
Blasphemy So Heartfelt, which garnered an 8.2 rating on Pitchfork and uniformly enthusiastic reviews elsewhere.
NPR's World Café declared she has "a mature sound that seems evolved beyond her years," while the New York Times
added that her sound is "guarded, insinuating, mesmerizing...music that lets you hear all its details."

Description:
Live In Marciac, a two-CD/one DVD set, is pianist and composer Brad Mehldau’s second collection of live solo recordings,
joining Live In Toyko in his Nonesuch catalogue. This engrossing set, from a summer festival in Marciac, France, features
both Mehldau originals and his ruminative explorations of material from such artists and writers as Nick Drake, Radiohead,
John Lennon and Paul McCartney, and Kurt Cobain, along with American Songbook classics from Cole Porter (“It’s All
Right With Me”) and Rogers and Hammerstein (“My Favorite Thing”).
The accompanying film offers a beautifully rendered, piano’s-eye view of Mehldau from this French performance, an
extraordinarily up-close opportunity to observes his hands—and mind—at work. As London’s Telegraph has noted, “He’s a
pianist who has it all, technically speaking, and he also has a fabulously well-stocked brain that can mingle different
musical traditions. He can turn a standard with consummate musicianship and real swing, he can mine the depths of a
blues chord sequence, he can summon a rock-anthem ecstasy. And lurking in the background is a fascination with
classical music, revealed in the way inner parts surge and pluck at the main melody.”
The release of this live set caps a remarkable year for the pianist, who just celebrated his 40th birthday in August. Mehldau
was awarded the prestigious Richard and Barbara Debs Composers Chair at Carnegie Hall for the current season, in
recognition of his “sensuous, cerebral, and incandescent” work. Through spring 2011, he is serving as an artist in
residence at Carnegie Hall, programming concerts—including the recent live premiere of his latest original work, Highway
Rider—and conducting master classes, as well as collaborating with other artists, such as mezzo soprano Anne Sofie von
Otter, with whom he will perform an expanded version of his Love Songs. This honor marks the first time the chair has
been given to a jazz artist and, as New York magazine put it, not just any cat—a pianist with broad influences and a
cerebral style.”
Highway Rider, released on Nonesuch in March, has been universally acclaimed. Naming it one of the best jazz releases
of 2010, NPR declared, “With producer Jon Brion lending a hand, Mehldau has put forth a double album of entirely original
music that shows how much he's grown as a composer, and not just a renowned pianist. “ The Los Angeles Times
concurs: “Full of unexpected twists and lush, evocative detours, Highway Rider is most definitely a trip, and one well worth
taking.”
ARTIST & INFO
Hometown:
New York, NY
Jazz pianist Brad Mehldau has recorded and performed extensively since the early 1990s. Mehldau's most consistent
output over the years has taken place in the trio format. Starting in 1996, his group released a series of five records on
Warner Bros. entitled The Art of the Trio. Mehldau also has a solo piano recording entitled Elegiac Cycle, and a record
called Places that includes both solo piano and trio songs. Elegiac Cycle and Places might be called "concept" albums.
They are made up exclusively of original material and have central themes that hover over the compositions. Other
Mehldau recordings include Largo, a collaborative effort with the innovative musician and producer Jon Brion, and
Anything Goes-a trio outing with bassist Larry Grenadier and drummer Jorge Rossy. His first record for Nonesuch, Brad
Mehldau Live in Tokyo, was released in 2004. After ten rewarding years with Rossy playing in Mehldau's regular trio,
drummer Jeff Ballard joined the band in 2005. The label releasesd its first album from the Brad Mehldau Trio-Day is Done
-in 2005.
Mehldau's musical personality forms a dichotomy. He is first and foremost an improviser, and greatly cherishes the
surprise and wonder that can occur from a spontaneous musical idea that is expressed directly, in real time. But he also
has a deep fascination for the formal architecture of music, and it informs everything he plays. In his most inspired playing,
the actual structure of his musical thought serves as an expressive device. As he plays, he listens to how ideas unwind,
and the order in which they reveal themselves. Each tune has a strongly felt narrative arch, whether it expresses itself in a
beginning, an end, or something left intentionally open-ended. The two sides of Mehldau's personality-the improviser and
the formalist-play off each other, and the effect is often something like controlled chaos.
Mehldau has performed around the world at a steady pace since the mid-1990s, with his trio and as a solo pianist. His
performances convey a wide range of expression. There is often an intellectual rigor to the continuous process of
abstraction that may take place on a given tune, and a certain density of information. That could be followed by a stripped
down, emotionally direct ballad. Mehldau favors juxtaposing extremes. He has attracted a sizeable following over the
years, one that has grown to expect a singular, intense experience in his performance.
In addition to his trio and solo projects, Mehldau has worked with a number of great jazz musicians, including a rewarding
gig with saxophonist Joshua Redman's band for two years, recording and concerts with Charlie Haden and Lee Konitz,
and recording as a sideman with the likes of Wayne Shorter, John Scofield, and Charles Lloyd. For more than a decade,
he has collaborated with several musicians and peers whom he respects greatly, including the guitarists Peter Bernstein
and Kurt Rosenwinkel and tenor saxophonist Mark Turner. Mehldau also has played on a number of recordings outside of
the jazz idiom, like Willie Nelson's Teatro and singer-songwriter Joe Henry's Scar. His music has appeared in several
movies, including Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut and Wim Wender's Million Dollar Hotel. He also composed an original
soundtrack for the French film, Ma Femme Est Une Actrice. Mehldau also composed two new works commissioned by
Carnegie Hall for voice and piano, The Blue Estuaries and The Book of Hours: Love Poems to God, which were performed
in the spring of 2005 with the acclaimed classical soprano, Renee Fleming. These songs were recorded with Fleming and
released in 2006 on the Love Sublime record; simultaneously, Nonesuch released an album of Mehldau's jazz
compositions for trio entitled House on Hill.

ALBUM FACTS
Genre: Rock
Description: Released in 1966, The Monkees scored an amazing 78-week run on the Billboard album chart, with 13
weeks at #1. It includes the #1 smash "Last Train To Clarksville" and the infectious "(Theme From) The Monkees," both
written for the band by hit songwriting team Boyce & Hart. The album also features Goffin & King's "Take A Giant Step"
and David Gates' "Saturday's Child." Between 1966 - 68, the Monkees had four consecutive #1 albums and sold 16 million
copies.
ARTIST & INFO
The Monkees were a pop rock group. Assembled in Los Angeles in 1966 by Robert "Bob" Rafelson and Bert Schneider for
the American television series The Monkees, which aired from 1966 to 1968, the musical acting quartet was composed of
Americans Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, and Englishman Davy Jones.
The Monkees had many international hits which are still heard on pop and oldies stations. These include "I'm a Believer",
"(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone", "Daydream Believer", "Last Train to Clarksville", and "Pleasant Valley Sunday".

Description: Buying time and thwarting bootleggers, Nirvana and DGC released the rarities compilation Incesticide
toward the end of 1992. Like any odds'n'sods collection, this is uneven, but that's its charm since it captures Nirvana's
character better than any official album. After all, this was a band that was born equally from '70s sludge metal, bubblegum
pop, post-punk artiness, and indie rock inclusiveness, each of which are apparent on this collection. There are some
non-entities here, particularly on the second side, but the plodding sub-metallic grind was part of their identity, one part of
their multi-faceted character.
Nirvana meant everything to everyone, from the jangle pop veterans to the garage rock ravers that worshipped the
Stooges to stoner metal fetishes and indie rock bed-sits that adopted Sebadoh just as they outgrew Morrissey - everybody
loved Nirvana, and there's something for every kind fan here, thanks to murky sludge, Devo and Vaseline covers, BBC
sessions, instrumentals, and limited-edition singles, plus sub-Melvins goop, everything visceral where Bleach was tame.
Nevermind doesn't capture this freewheeling indie spirit but Incesticide does, piling on some essentials in the meantime the pummeling "Dive," the childhood snapshot "Sliver," the terrific forgotten indie pop tune "Been a Son," and "Aneurysm,"
perhaps the greatest single song the group ever recorded. Yeah, there's some filler here, but this is the sound of what
Nirvana was actually like.
ARTIST & INFO
Nirvana popularized punk, post-punk, and indie rock, unintentionally bringing it into the American mainstream like no other
band to date. While Nirvana's ideology was indie rock and their melodies were pop, the sonic rush of their records and live
shows merged the post-industrial white noise with heavy metal grind. And that's what made the group an unprecedented
multi-platinum sensation.

ARTIST & INFO
ZZ Top an American blues rock band, formed in 1969 in Houston, Texas. Comprising of Billy Gibbons (lead vocals, guitar
and harmonica), Dusty Hill (vocals, bass, and keyboards), and Frank Beard (drums and percussion), ZZ Top was ranked
number 44 on VH1's "100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock.". The trio's original lineup has been intact for over 40 years. ZZ
Top retained the services of the same manager, Bill Ham, until September 2006.
The bandmates' image has been as unchanging and memorable as their music. Their signature style of dress and
accessories are hard to miss. Gibbons and Hill often use the same synchronized dance moves while performing onstage,
and with few exceptions appear in public wearing sunglasses. The pair favor wearing similar black clothing (usually biker
leathers) and various headgear which often include cowboy hats, baseball caps, and bandanas. Gibbons and Hill, who
appear as twin frontmen wear chest-length untrimmed beards, although drummer Frank Beard has only a trimmed
mustache. In 1984, the Gillette Company reportedly offered Gibbons and Hill $1 million each to shave their beards for a
television commercial. They allegedly declined, saying "We're too ugly without 'em.
ZZ Top was inducted by Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 15, 2004.
Cub Koda wrote, "As genuine roots musicians, they have few peers; Gibbons is one of America's finest blues guitarists
working in the hard rock idiom ... while Hill and Beard provide the ultimate rhythm section support."

ARTIST & INFO
Hometown: Los Angeles
It's better if you don't understand; just listen and have a good time. That's the response Bruno Mars will give you with a
smile when asked to describe his sound and music. He would much rather sing, perform, and write his songs than talk
about them, but that is becoming more and more unavoidable these days. It might seem that Mars appeared out of
nowhere, co-writing, producing and performing on B.o.B's #1 "Nothin' On You" followed by Travie McCoy's chart-climbing
"Billionaire", but he makes one thing clear: "It's not an overnight success".
Mars is a multitalented singer, songwriter, producer and musician who feels most at home when he's performing. Born to a
musical family in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was practically raised on the stage. His father, a Latin percussionist from Brooklyn,
organized a Vegas-style revue that featured the entire family, including his mother, a talented vocalist. When a
four-year-old Mars observed his family performing Motown hits, doo-wop medleys and impersonations for enthusiastic
crowds all over his native Waikiki Beach, "I was jealous!" says Mars with a laugh. "My dad put me on stage and I
remember singing an Elvis song and that was it. Ever since that moment, I've been addicted."
As soon as he graduated high school, Mars left Hawaii for Los Angeles with dreams of launching his career as a
performer. Those dreams got put on hold, however, when The Smeezingtons, the songwriting/production team he founded
with Philip Lawrence and Ari Levine, suddenly took off. The pair has crafted major hits for a diverse roster of talent,
including Flo Rida's "Right Round", Travie McCoy's "Billionaire", Brandy's "Long Distance" and K'Naan's "Waving Flags",
which is the theme song for the upcoming World Cup.
On the heels of "Nothin' on You" and "Billionaire" and as a preview of what's to come from Bruno Mars, Elektra Records
released a 4-song EP aptly titled "It's Better If You Don't Understand". The title is taken from a lyric to "The Other Side";
one of the songs included that features Cee-Lo Green and re-teams Mars with B.o.B. The EP has gone on to sell over
20,000 units to date.
In preparation for his full length debut, Bruno recently released his first single "Just The Way You Are". The single is
already in heavy rotation across Top 40 stations nationwide and has sold over 200,000 units to date.
Although he's incredibly proud of the recordings, Mars feels the best way to experience the sound is to see him perform
live with his band. "That is what I'm most excited for - taking these songs and traveling them around the world." The only
place he would rather be than in the recording studio, is with his band on stage - where he grew up. "I think people are
really going to gravitate towards the live show. We turn it into a party."
Bruno will have this opportunity as he gears up for his first sold out NYC show at Bowery Ballroom later this month and a
fall tour with Maroon 5 in October.
