Senior Spring Update With the end of the year quickly approaching, we want to remind you of all the events in the weeks ahead. Please take time to read and discuss the content of this letter with your senior. April 10 Sign up for Senior Speaker, Caen Laida Performer, and Graduation Performer auditions at today’s Senior Class Meeting or sign up with Mrs. Phillips in M139 by April 15. Auditions for Caen Laida and Graduation Performers will require you to have the same piece prepared that you intend to use at the actual event. Auditions are May 6 after school. Mrs. Monson is coordinating Senior Speakers. Mrs. Phillips is coordinating performers. April 16 Caps, gowns, and announcements can be picked up during Nutrition Break and lunch in the Commons on April 16. All fines must be paid, previous to this date, at the ASB window in order to receive your cap and gown. Announcements and other materials can be picked up even if you have current fines. After this date, see Mrs. Phillips to pick up your cap, gown, announcements, or other items ordered through Jostens. May 1 Fines must be paid today! All fines must be cleared in order to attend Prom, receive an annual, your diploma, and to have your final transcript sent to your college. May 4 Your SCP (Senior Culminating Project) tracking sheet and your CS (Community Service) hours must be turned in to Mrs. Monson today. Signatures required. Guest passes for Prom will be available. Pick up applications in the Activity Office M139 or download from the Activities section of the SC website. They are due no later then May 26 at 2:35 PM. If you have any questions, see Mrs. Phillips. Prom tickets will be sold at the ASB window, May 4 -­‐ May 29. All fines must be paid. Tardies must be cleared, no Highlander Home/Targeted Intervention unexcused absences. Prices are $18 w/ASB, $20 w/out. You cannot buy tickets at the door, so be sure to buy your tickets early! May 15 May 18 May 21 May 26 May 29 June 1 June 1 – 11 June 3 National Honor Society hours are due to Mrs. Monson in the Career Center. Senior Class Meeting, 9:30-­‐10:10, Theater, bring iPads. You will be dismissed at 9:30 from your 1st period class. In this meeting you will complete the Senior Survey via Naviance, so you must bring your iPad. The survey is mandatory and part of your final senior checkout. Order extra Commencement tickets. Each student will receive 10 tickets at the finish of the first graduation rehearsal. Students may begin requesting additional tickets today by filling out a request form (available in the Counseling Office). Forms are due no later than June 5. Academic Awards is in the Shorecrest Theater at 7:00 PM. All are welcome to attend this special evening honoring the academic achievements of senior students. A Shorecrest PTSA and Grad Night, post-­‐
graduation, surprise adventure going back 25+ years! It is an all-­‐night, drug and alcohol free celebration. The cost is $174 and includes loads of entertainment, food, and transportation. No extra money will be needed. June 4 June 5 June 6 Senior Checkout Forms are distributed to seniors during Highlander Home. Forms are also available in the Counseling Office. Students will hand-­‐carry this form for teacher signatures. In order to receive Commencement tickets, this form must be completed and turned in no later than 3:00 PM, June 10 to the Counseling Office. This form is also required of Running Start students. iPad return dates for all seniors. iPad must be returned to pick up Commencement tickets and walk at Graduation. Last day to request extra Commencement tickets! Forms are available in the Counseling Office. SENIOR PROM: WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE -­‐ 9:00 PM – 12:00 AM at the Woodland Park Zoo (5500 Phinney AVE N, Seattle, WA). Last entry 10:30 PM. Formal attire is required. SC students must have SC ID. Non-­‐SC guests must be pre-­‐approved and must bring photo ID. In order to attend, you must have no fines, also all tardies must be cleared, no Highlander Home / Targeted Intervention unexcused absences. No formal pictures at Prom. Early Prom pictures by Dorian Studios will be at Shorecrest Commons from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. June 9 Senior Finals for periods 0, 2, 4, 6. National Honor Society members pick up stoles, to be worn at graduation, from Mrs. Monson in the Career Center through June 10. Membership and probation requirements must be met in order to receive your stole. Stoles must be returned to Mrs. Monson immediately following Commencement. June 10 Senior Finals for periods 1, 3, 5. SENIORS’ LAST DAY OF CLASSES! Senior Checkout Form is due in the Counseling Office by 3:00. NOTE – You cannot walk at graduation or get a diploma unless you have paid all of your fines, returned books and your iPad! June 11 Senior Breakfast is at the Shoreline Center from 8:00 -­‐ 10:00 AM. Tickets are required (last day to purchase is June 3). The Senior Slide Show will be shown in its entirety from 9:30 -­‐ 10:00 AM. Attire: nice clothes. Graduation Rehearsal #1 is in the SC gym, 10:30 AM -­‐ 12:30 PM. Rehearsal is mandatory for those who plan on going through Commencement on June 14. (Running Start students must notify their counselor if there is a conflict with attending this rehearsal due to college finals.) Students receive graduation tickets today following the rehearsal. June 12 June 14 June 18 Honor Cords – today is the last day to purchase these at the ASB window (see details above). Baccalaureate is at 7:00 PM at The Shoreline Free Methodist Church, 510 NE 175th ST, Shoreline, WA. This is a non-­‐denominational service honoring the Senior Class and is sponsored by parents and area churches. All seniors and family members are welcome. Caen Laida is in the SC gym, from 10:30-­‐12:00 PM. This assembly honors the outgoing seniors and recognizes the changing of the guard for the elected officers. This assembly is also mandatory. Parents are welcome to attend, but must sign in at the Main Office prior to the assembly. GRADUATION! The class of 2015 Commencement Exercises at Xfinity Arena at Everett Events Center will begin promptly at 6:00 PM. Seniors should arrive no later than 5:00 PM. Remember to bring your cap, gown, honor cord, and, if applicable, NHS stole. It’s important that each graduate’s name be heard by their proud families and friends. Out of respect, please refrain from using air horns or other noisemakers. Balloons are not allowed in the Events Center. Senior Spree 2015! Check in, for all those who sign up, starts at 9:15 PM on June 14, 2015 at the Lake Forest Park Mall in the lower parking lot between Chase Bank and Bank of America. The students will be dropped back off at the same location between 5:30 -­‐ 6:00 AM on the morning of June 15. Diplomas and portfolios may be picked up at Shorecrest from 11:00 AM -­‐ 2:00 PM. in the Career Center. During Commencement, seniors will receive an empty diploma cover. You will also receive an invitation to join the Shorecrest Alumni Group and Facebook page when you pick up your diploma – please join these groups as a way of staying connected and informed about Shorecrest!
