Last year we completed the rst phase of
our renovation and were able to retain much
of the existing structure as well as install
low “E” insulated glass. As we approach
a LEED “Silver” rating, we will continue
to adopt each of the listed credits in the
upcoming months.
SS Credit 4.1 – Public Transportation Access – Building is within 1/4 mile of two bus stops.
SS Credit 4.3 & 4.4 – Alternative Transportation – Preferred parking spaces are provided for low emission or fuel
efcient vehicles while not increasing the lot size.
SS Credit 5.1 – Site Development – Land is either maintained or restored to native adapted landscape habitat on
more than 50% of the site.
SS Credit 5.2 – Site Development – While there is no municipal requirement for open space, this project provides
over 40% of open space.
MR 2.1 & 2.2 – Construction Waste Management – Plans are to divert 50% of disposal, minimizing landll waste and
increasing material re-use.
MR 3.1 & 3.2 – Materials Reuse – Existing furniture and doors were refurbished, reducing the demand for virgin
materials.

WE 1 – Water Efcient Landscaping – Adapted or native plants are utilized and will be maintained with captured
non-potable water from onsite storage tank.

EQ prerequisite 1 – Minimum IAQ Performance – Increased ventilation provides fresh air and oxygen to enhance
the comfort and productivity of occupants.
EQ prerequisite 2 – Environmental Tobacco Smoke Control – Company policy prohibits smoking in or around the
building.
SS Credit 6.1 – Stormwater Retention – Plans to convert existing 10,000 gallon storage tank will capture storm
run-off for irrigation and reduce load on city systems.
EQ 1 & 2 – Outdoor Air Delivery Monitoring – Plans to check the air ventilated to the outside against the air quality
inside will monitor the quality of air in the system.

SS Credit 7.2 – Heat Island Effect – Roof utilizes a reective solar membrane to reduce heat gained from the sun.

SS Credit 8 – Light Pollution Reduction – Exterior lighting was redesigned to minimize “sky glow” pollution and save
energy. Interior lighting timers ensure that light trespass through the windows is minimized at night.
EQ 3.1 – The IAQ Construction Management Plan – Separating partitions and special AC system lters are planned
to protect air quality and ensure the ongoing comfort and health of construction workers and building occupants.

EQ 4.2 – Low VOC Paints & Coatings – Low VOC paints & coatings reduce indoor air contaminants (i.e. Volatile
Organic Compounds).
EA prerequisite 1 – Fundamental Commissioning of Building Energy Systems – Building systems are tuned to
perform efciently, lowering energy use and building operating costs.
EQ 4.3 – Low-Emitting Carpet – “Greenlabel” carpet and recycled backing is utilized throughout the ofce to reduce
air contaminants.
EA prerequisite 2 – Minimum Energy Performance – The types of systems prescribed are efcient for both the
building and the user, decreasing the overall building cost while increasing user productivity.
EQ 5 – Indoor Chemical & Pollutant Source Control – Entry mats minimize exposure to hazardous air particulates
and chemical pollutants.
EA prerequisite 3 – Fundamental Refrigerant Management – AC systems were reworked to eliminate the use of CFC
refrigerants to protect the earth’s ozone layer.
EQ 6.1 – Controllability of Lighting – Dimmers, timers and motion sensors throughout the building reduce energy
and enable occupants to gauge the amount of light used.
EA 1 – Optimize Energy Performance – Beyond the minimum requirements, this credit optimizes energy used by the
building which in turn reduces the impact on the environment and operating costs.
EQ 7.1 – Thermally comfortable design – Additional systems planned for the assembly area will provide a
comfortable environment for building occupants and support productivity and well-being.
EA 2 – On-Site Renewable Energy – Planned 13 KW solar electric system will reduce 2.5% of annual energy cost
and fossil fuel use.
EQ Credit 8.1 & 8.2 – Daylighting in 75% of Spaces – Daylighting will be provided in 75% of the building to connect
the outside and inside and increase occupant’s comfort level.
EA 6 – Green Power – The company is enrolled in a local Windtricity program that provides energy from a renewable
source to lower pollution.

MR prerequisite 1 – Storage and Collection of Recyclables – Centralized collection of metals, paper, glass,
corrugated cardboard and plastics reduces landll waste.
MR 1.1, 1.2 & MR 1.3 – Building Reuse – 95% of the existing structure and 50% of the interior was retained,
reducing landll waste and minimizing the environmental impact from new construction.
