The Lions Eye Bank of Texas was established in 1953 and
serves as a receiving, processing, research and distribu1on
laboratory for donor eye 1ssue. Lions Eye Bank of Texas is one of
the largest eye banks in the world, and receives approximately
300 dona1ons annually.
Headquartered in Houston at the Texas Medical Center,
the Eye Bank has a branch office in Corpus Chris1 and is a
member of the Eye Bank Associa1on of America. Two technicians
and a Houston staff member service the Golden Triangle. The
Eye Bank is a co-sponsored by Baylor College of Medicine and
the Lions Clubs of the Texas Gulf Coast. The Eye Bank also
func1ons as a public educa1on center for eyesight, eye diseases
and eye dona1ons.
