Diabetes Nurse Educator
For the Community of La Ronge
Lac La Ronge Indian Band Health Services Department is currently seeking a 1 Year – Temporary Full Time,
Diabetes Nurse Educator to work in the community La Ronge. This is a full time contract position for 1 year, with
a strong possibility of extension. The ideal candidate will be required to provide nursing services to the
communities of La Ronge, Sucker River, Hall Lake and Grandmother’s Bay.
Duties:
 Utilize teaching assessment and nursing skills to effectively assist clients maintain and achieve an optimal
level of health;
 Provide direct care by assessing client health needs, planning care, implementing interventions and evaluating
outcomes;
 Promote healthy lifestyles, disease prevention and communicable disease control;
 Assess needs of Band Members and make necessary referrals;
 Act as a client advocate and a liaison between LLRIBHS and other agencies;
 Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications:
 In good standing and registered with the Saskatchewan Association of Licensed Practical Nurses (SALPN);
 Diabetes Nurse Educator certificate or willing to obtain training to get DNE Certificate;
 Previous Home Care, Community Health experience is an asset;
 Strong leadership and communication skills;
 Ability to work effectively as a team member and able to travel;
 The ability to speak and/or understand Cree is a definite asset;
 Must have a Class 5 Drivers license;
 Security Clearance: Current Criminal Record Clearance/Child Abuse Record Check and Driver’s Abstract
required upon hire;
Salary/Wage: Depending on Education and Experience
