Community Service Briefing - Matriculation
2 May 2015
Dear Freshmen
CENTRE FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY COMMUNITY SERVICE BRIEFING 2015
FOR NATIONAL SERVICEMEN
Congratulations, and welcome to the Singapore Management University (SMU)!
SMU’s community service attachment is handled by the Centre for Social Responsibility (C4SR). All SMU
students are required to complete a minimum of 80 hours of community service. This is part of the
graduation requirements at SMU.
Through active participation in Community Service projects, you will develop an appreciation for a
myriad of social issues: environment, poverty, community building, education, elderly, the socially
marginalised, etc. Most Global Banks and MNCs are big on corporate social responsibility, and the SMU
experience underscores this. The Community Service experience will offer you cutting edge training and
exposure and will prepare you for the corporate world.
To prepare you for the community service attachment, C4SR is organizing the Freshmen Community
