Wapakoneta Middle School PTO Minutes
March 30, 2015
The meeting was called to order at 6:02 p.m. Those in attendance were Brenda Young, Sarah Pack, Wes Newland,
Susan Hasting, Tammy Arel, Amy Schnarre and Shelley Mowery.
Secretary Report: The minutes were from February 9, 2015, were reviewed and accepted by Wes Newland (1st ) and
Tammy Arel (2nd).
Treasurer Report: Shelley Mowery proposed the new budget for 2015-2016 to remain the same as it was for 2014-2015
at $13,925. Brenda Young made the motion to accept. Sarah Pack seconded. Motion was passed.
Shelley Mowery offered her resignation as treasurer effective immediately. Sarah pack made a motion to accept the
resignation. Brenda Young seconded. Motion passed. Thank you, Shelley, for helping us out in this capacity. We
appreciate all the work you put into it.
Proposal was made for Tammy Arel to step in as the new treasurer. Brenda Young made the motion to accept and Sarah
Pack seconded. Welcome Tammy! Thank you so much for all you have done to support the PTO the last few years! We
look forward to working with you as an officer.
The duties of treasurer have been officially passed from Shelley Mowery to Tammy Arel.
Principal Report: Mr. Newland made us aware of things going on around the school. Thank you, Mr. Newland!
Teachers’ Reports: Thank you teachers for your updates. We enjoy reading them!
Business:
Activity Night: Overall the activity night was successful. Thank you to all who volunteered your time and energy to help
us make it smooth. The extra supplies will be donated to Tammy Arel for use in concessions.
Compliance: We are making progress and the end is in sight!
Spring Book Fair: The spring book fair will be April 28th through May 1st. If you are interested in volunteering, please
contact Tammy Arel.
7th grade fundraiser for Washington D. C.: The peeler card sales were again successful with more than $9,000 raised
from participating students. Thank you, Angie Whitmore, for taking your time to help with this. We are grateful!
Staff Appreciation: Staff appreciation week will be May 4-May 7. We will be looking for volunteers to donate breakfast
foods for the teachers and staff of Wapakoneta Middle School each day. Please contact Brenda Young if you are able to
donate.
Retirement Luncheon: The PTO will be hosting a retirement luncheon for all the retirees this year. There will be 3
honorees.
Administrative Professionals Day: The PTO would like to honor Kim Dirr and Angie Whitmore for their outstanding
service to our school. We will provide them with lunch and a gift. Thank you, ladies, for your continued service.
2015-2016: Nominations will be taken during the April meeting for next year’s officers. If you would like the
opportunity to serve and get to know other parents in the school, please consider coming out. Voting will be in May.
