LAW COMMISSIONER
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:

Carries out the accurate revision exercise of the
Subsidiary Legislation on an annual.

Examines Subsidiary Legislation for inconsistencies
and irregularities, and subsequently consults with the
Chief Parliamentary Counsel or Legal Officers in the
Office of the Parliamentary Counsel in order to effect
the necessary changes.

Peruses the Jamaica Gazette Supplement
(Proclamations, Rules and Regulations), and the
Jamaica Gazette Extraordinary with a view to
identifying legislation to be amended and any new ones
to be added.

Proofreads the computerized pages of the laws (Statutes
and Subsidiary Legislations) with the senior members
of staff to ensure correct re-production.

Proofreads the pages relative to the preparation of a
loose-leaf Guide in hard copy and electronic form

Monitors job output of data officer responsible for
typesetting of Subsidiary Legislation.

Overall responsibility of the Law Revision Office in the
absence of the Technical Assistant to the Law Revision
Commissioners.
Performs any other duties required from time to time.
