Summer Yoga and
Meditation Retreat
with Teresa Owen
Join me for a wonderful summer awakening in the beautiful Blue
Ridge Mountains at The Mountain Retreat Center, about two and
one-half hours north of Atlanta. The center sits atop a 4200 foot
granite cliff, overlooking the majestic Blue Valley in the ecologically
diverse Nantahala National Forest.
Through Yoga and Meditation, we will mark the seasonal change
and our bodies’ responses to those changes. Summer is the season
of Pitta dosha when the elements of fire and water are dominant.
We celebrate the expression of radiant energy, both within and
around us.
Ayurveda teaches us to watch for dehydration both inside and
outside of the body during this time. Common imbalances include
overheating and sharpness, which can show up in the body or in
flashes of anger. We will learn simple daily routines to help balance
the shifts we observe in our bodies and mind during this transition.
Our retreat begins Friday with a restorative yoga session at 4:00
p.m., followed by dinner at 6:00. It includes four extended Yoga
and Meditation sessions, all meals and concludes with lunch on
Sunday.
You will have ample time to explore the grounds, tour the farm,
enjoy a quiet moment on
Meditation Rock, sit in a
rocking chair on one of the
decks, find a bench by the
dwarfed white oak trees,
and do what relaxes and
inspires you.
The Mountain offers
guests:
• An observation tower that straddles the U.S. Continental Divide, yielding a four-state panoramic view
• On-site hiking trails that lead to waterfalls, valleys, meadows and a lake
• A labyrinth for walking meditation
• Delicious and wholesome food, with accommodations for any dietary concerns
All levels of yogis and yoginis are welcome. There will be plenty
of opportunity to retreat, relax, renew and deepen your practice.
