What is SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS contest?
SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS is a contest for creators and producers from Ukraine and beyond with
innovative concepts for new non-scripted entertainment TV shows formats. The contest is organized by
Media Resources Management (Ukraine) and backed by Partner Small World IFT (USA).
Who can apply?
SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS contest is open to broadcasters, production companies, independent creators
and producers who have completed online entry form at the event’s official web-page and have paid
the Application Fee (more details – below).
How many projects can be submitted by one Participant?
Participant can submit unlimited number of concepts, each of them must be accompanied by nonrefundable application fee payment.
What are the criteria for selection of concepts?
Selection criteria:
 Innovation
 Creativity / originality
 Potential to develop multiple series
 Potential to travel around the world as a format
 Potential to become cross-media and multiplatform format
 To be non-scripted entertainment format (game show, reality show, quiz show, dating show, etc.)
The concept won’t be considered by the Jury unless it fits the criteria listed above.
The submitted concepts can be at any development stage: starting from paper format and on out to the
program that has already been broadcast or commissioned (in this case worldwide format rights
availability is a must).
How can one become a Participant of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS?
To participate in SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS contest and submit one or more projects please proceed with
the following steps:
 Complete the online entry form at the event’s official web-page;
 Learn the Rules of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS;
 Pay the contest application fee;
 Send duly completed Application Form to the attention of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS organizers,
email address: [email protected] (not later than Mach 6th).
What information on the project is required for submission?


Each Participant must provide detailed description of the concept(s) by filling appropriate fields of
mandatory Application Form;
In case you want to add any other materials related to the submitted project (in addition to duly
completed Application Form, e.g. video files, photo materials, presentation in PDF or PowerPoint

What is the deadline for submitting the entries and sending the materials?
The deadline for submitting the projects and sending any additional materials is March 6, 2015.
Applications and materials received after 24.00 March 6, 2015 won’t be considered by Organizers and
Jury accordingly.
Is there any Application Fee for SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS contest participants?
Each SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS entry must be accompanied by non-refundable application fee: 400 UAH
(for one project, VAT included).
What is the selection process?
Submitted projects are considered by the Judging Panel. In the light of the contest selection criteria the
jury defines 5 (five) Finalists. SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS Judging Panel* will consist of Ukrainian and
international TV industry experts. More details to be announced soon, please follow the updates on
event’s official web-page.
When and how the Finalists of the contest will be announced?
The list of the 5 Finalists will be unveiled on the web-page of the event on March 16, 2015. Besides the
Organizer will get in touch with each of the Finalists directly in order to provide further instructions
regarding preparations to the SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS Final Round.
When and where the Final Round of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS will be held?
The Final Round of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS contest will be held on March 27, 2015 in the course of
FORMAT SHOW Spring Edition at the film studio FILM.UA (22 Zakrevsky St., Kiev, 02660, Ukraine).
How do the final projects are supposed to be presented by the Finalists at the Final Round of SMALL
WORLD. BIG IDEAS?
During the Final Round of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS (on March 27, 2015, Kiev, Ukraine) each Finalist must
pitch his own project to the audience, which will include independent experts and FORMAT SHOW Spring
Edition participants.
The presentation (overall time - up to 7 minutes) must include brief description of the project, clear
statement about its concept, rules and key elements (supplementary visual material such as PowerPoint
presentation are welcomed) and sizzle reel on a big screen. Any other creative solutions during the
pitching are welcomed, but should be approved by the Organizer and provided in advance. The Finalists
are obliged to provide all his visual materials to the Organizer not later than March 23, 2015.
In which way the Final Round of SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS will be held?
The Final Round will consist of the following parts:
1/ Five Finalists pitch their concepts to the audience;
2/ Three independent Experts comment on the finalists’ projects, ask questions and assign them scores;
3/ Representative of Small World IFT (the contest partner) announces the winner of SMALL WORLD. BIG
IDEAS.

How can I be sure that my idea will not be stolen during SMALL WORLD. BIG IDEAS contest?
Please remember that ideas are in the air and can’t be protected by copyright law. You should
understand that several elements of your Project may be identical or similar to the Materials of the other
Participants, developing the analogues idea independently from the you, as well as with the materials
and information, obtained by the Organizer or the Partner of the Contest from other legal resources,
including the resources of the limited access to which the Organizer or the Partner of the Contest has a
lawful access. Also you should acknowledges that the Organizer and the Partner of the Contest have the
right to use any materials, obtained legally and by lawful means, and you have no right to demand any
remuneration, payments or compensation in result of use by the Organizer or the Partner of the Contest
of the materials, being identical or similar to the Materials of the Participant and the elements of its
Project which have become known to the Organizer or the Partner of the Contest not from your Materials
but from the other lawful resources, or produced or elaborated by the Organizer or the Partner of the
Contest on their own and independently from you, or that constitute open and available information
known at the moment of holding the Contest and your submission of the Application, or fall within the
public domain and are not subject to copyright protection.
