DRY-DOCKING AND REBUILD PLAN FOR “VERONICA” TO TRANSFORM INTO“KUNGSHOLM” AT
DSME/DAEWOO REPAIR-YARD, DUQM/OMAN 2015.
THE SHIPS CURRENT PROFILE IS TO BE UPGRADED ACCORDING TO THE FOLLOWING ROUGH
SPECIFICATIONS, IN ORDER FOR THE SHIP TO RESEMBLE THE ORIGINAL “KUNGSHOLM” LOOK OF 1966:
1. THE FORWARD “DUMMY” FUNNEL SHOULD BE RE-BUILT ONTOP OF THE CURRENT “STUMP”,
ACCORDING TO ORIGINAL DRAWINGS (TO BE PROVIDED TO DSME).
2. THE AFT FUNNEL SHOULD BE RESTORED TO ORIGINAL LOOK, CUT DOWN AND REMODELED.
DURING THE REFITTING DONE IN BREMEN 1979 FOR PRINCESS CRUISES THE FUNNEL HAD A NEW
“TOP” INSTALLED AND THUS MOST OF THE ORIGINAL FUNNEL IS LEFT.
3. THE LOOK OF THE PORT-HOLES SITUATED ON LIDO- AND RIVIERA DECK (FRONT) SHOULD BE
EMULATED AFT OF THE SHIP, IN VARIOUS CABINS AND PUBLIC SPACES, IN ORDER FOR A
CONTINUOUS LOOK. PAINT OR NEW PORT-HOLES SHOULD BE USED, DEPENDING ON COSTEFFECTIVITY AND FINISH.
4. THE AFT RADIO-MAST SHOULD BE REBUILT, ACCORDING TO ORIGINAL SPECIFICATIONS. (TO BE
PROVIDED TO DSME)
5. COMPLETE RE-PAINTING OF THE HULL AND SUPERSTRUCTURES AND FUNNELS, ACCORDING TO
ORIGINAL 1966 COLOUR-SCHEME. ORIGINAL FUNNEL LOGOS AND NAME + HOMEPORT TO BE
CUT FROM METAL AND WELDED TO THE SHIP PERMANENTLY, NOT SIMPLY PAINTED. (ORIGINAL
DRAWINGS, COLOR-SCHEME, LOGOS AND FONTS TO BE PROVIDED TO DSME)
6. PAINTING AND CLEANING OF THE BOTTOM STRUCTURES, AND CHECK-UP OF ALL SUB-WATERLINE
INTAKES AND BILGES.
7. MAINTENANCE OF DAVETS, IN ORDER FOR THEM TO FUNCTION PROPERLY WHEN THE TENDERS
ARE RE-INSTALLED.
