ThinSoft User ID’
s & Security Settings
First create the User ID itself in Informix, then setup specific permissions for the ID.

Open Internet Explorer
Type in http://thinsoft or type in your IP address.
Click on the “Webmin Web-Based User Administration”link
(NOTE: If the above menu does not display, then type in http://thinsoft:10000 or your IP address:10000)

Type in user ID and password provided by Unique

Click on green arrow next to System.

Select Users and Groups

Select Create a new user.

Enter the Username as all lower case with no spaces.
Enter the Real name of the user, which can have capitals and spaces.
Be sure that User ID is set to automatic
Be sure that Home directory is set to automatic.
12) Select /bin/bash/ as the shell if not already defaulted.
13) Set password to normal password and enter generic password since user will be prompted to change on first
use.

14) Be sure that Primary group is set (has black dot next) to Existing Group: “Informix”

15) Click on the Create button to save the new user!
16) Either return to users and groups list or Logout.
ThinSoft Menu Security
The second step is to give the Informix userID which was just created, security to the appropriate
menu options.

Type in http://thinsoft/ or your IP address.
Click on the “ThinSoft Menu Permissions Editor”link
(NOTE: If the above menu does not display, then type in http://thinsoft:menuadmin or your IP
address:menuadmin)

Type in user ID and password provided by Unique

Click on Assign Users into Groups

Locate the User ID that was just added in the Edit User List provided. They are in alphabetical order and
shown in groups of 15 with the column headings shown with each group. Put a check mark in all of the
areas/groups that this user should have access to. Be sure to scroll to bottom of page & click on the Save
Changes button before returning to the main page.

Click on “Click here to return to the main page”link
To edit individual permissions, return to the main page & scroll to the bottom of the page. Enter the userID
or click on the users name in the list.

Verify that you are Editing Permissions for the correct user. Click on the plus sign of the menu permissions
you wish to change. Note that the default permission is displayed and you may change it by clicking allow or
deny. Be sure to click on the Save Changes button before returning to the main page.

From picture on item 7, you can select View List of Known Users. This lists every user, the groups that they
belong to, and the number of individual permission settings that have been changed.

ThinSoft Branch Permissions
The final step is to give the userID that was just created, security to the appropriate branches.

Open ThinSoft and expand Accounting –General Setup –Administration –Click on Update
Username/Branch mapping.

Click on Add
Enter the user ID that was added.
Enter the user’
s full name.
Click on Next Input Area
Select the Branch or Branches that this individual has permission to view. Most individuals should only have
permission to view or enter data for one branch, but there will some that have permission to more than one
branch.
Click on OK to save the changes.

Changing User ID Password
1.
Sign onto “Webmin” as the administrator (described on page 2)

Click on Users & Group link located in left hand corner.

Locate & click on the User’s name.
4.
Click on “Normal Password” option and enter the new password.

If you are logged on as the user, use the Change User Password menu option located under Accounting General Setup –Administration
OR
Deleting a User ID
To delete a user from the Informix database, use the “Webmin Web-Based User
Administration”link as described in create a User ID. Deleting a User ID here will prevent
a user from accessing the database or logging into ThinSoft, but the User ID will still exist in
ThinSoft for audit trail and log files.
1) Click on the userID in the list that you would like to delete.

2) Locate and click on the Delete button at the bottom of the Edit User screen.
3) Confirm your choice to delete the User ID by clicking on Delete User or Delete User and Home
Directory. (Note: Deleting the Home Directory will remove any files stored under that
individual user ID.)

4) Wait for all processes to be “Done”.
5) Click on Return to users and groups list or logout.
