Summer Session 2015
Elementary Summer Session 2015 will offer Academic, Special Education (referral required), ESOL (referral required)
classes, and a Fine Arts Academy.

TRANSPORTATION
There is no transportation from a student’s home to home
school. Shuttle transportation will be available from the home
school to the operating summer site for combined and blended
schools provided there is a sufficient number of student riders.
Buses will run only for the 8:00 a.m. classes and return students
after the 12:00 noon dismissal. Transportation must be pro-
vided by parents for those students who will need to be
picked up or brought to school at 10:00 a.m.
Transportation to and from the Fine Arts Academy is the responsibility of the parents.
All classes run from Monday through Thursday.

GENERAL INFORMATION
To attend Elementary Summer Session, students must be eligible
to attend Kindergarten during the 2015-16 school year or must
have been enrolled in grades K-5 during the 2014-15 school year.
All grades listed refer to grades in which students were enrolled
during the 2014-15 school year.
Registration for all Summer classes (academic, enrichment and
exceptional education) is restricted to the placement and/or services the students received during the 2014-15 academic year.
REGISTRATION
Registration is from April 20- May 22, 2015. Registration for
School Readiness begins on April 16, 2015. Students should register in the office of their current school during normal business
hours, Monday through Friday for all classes in this brochure.
The last day of registration is May 22, 2015. Classes are assigned
on a first come, first served basis and are subject to enrollment
restrictions.
Tuition must be paid in full at registration. (Amount for each class is
listed in the course description section.) Check/money order should be
made payable to the home school.
TUITION
REFUND REQUESTS must be submitted by June 12, 2015 to
the home school office. The receipt copy of the registration form
must be returned to process a refund. No refunds will be given
after June 12, 2015. When a class reaches its maximum enrollment, registrations will be returned in reverse date order. Chesterfield County Public School system reserves the right to cancel
classes for which there is insufficient enrollment. In cases where
classes are cancelled, refunds will be made.

A Standard of Learning Workshop will be offered to fifth-grade
students who have met the requirements to be promoted to the
sixth grade. Students will receive assistance in math and reading,
and participate in activities designed to support a smooth transition
to middle school. The four-week class will be offered Monday Thursday at middle school sites. Registrations are to be turned in
to the student’s current elementary school.

through Chesterfield County Public Schools’ exceptional education
programs.
Registration: April 20 - May 22, 2015
Students must register in their home school by 2:00 p.m. on May
22, 2015. Tuition must be paid in full at registration with checks
payable to the student’s home school. Late registrations will not
be accepted.
All programs will be offered provided there is sufficient enrollment. Class information is available through the Office of Exceptional Education. Phone number: 639-8752. All summer school
sites will have a Special Education consultant to help meet the
needs of students with disabilities.
Autism (IP0409)
This course will provide reinforcement in math and language arts
for students with autism who are currently instructed on an aligned
standards of learning curriculum (ASOL). The teacher will use a
structured, multi-sensory approach along with environmental supports to meet the individual needs of each student. Students must

Early Childhood Special Education (IP0429)
Current Early Childhood Special Education students who will continue to be served in the Chesterfield County Public Schools center-based ECSE program for the school year may register.
A developmental approach will be used to focus upon communication, socialization, adaptive daily living, and problem solving

ASOL Math and Reading (SL103O)
This course will provide reinforcement in math and language arts
for students with intellectual disabilities who are currently instructed on an aligned standards of learning curriculum. The
teacher will use differentiated instruction techniques to meet the
individual needs of each student. Students with mild mental disabilities, moderate mental disabilities, or severe disabilities may be

Have fun together making and learning about art! You will
explore many different materials and ways to create artwork.
Everyone will draw, paint, make prints, sculptures and craftwork in their own unique way. Enjoy working by yourself
and with other artists to make beautiful artwork for yourself
and others!

Take a trip through the wonderful world of art! Learn how

art and artists.

Sharpen your drawing skills to prepare for upper level art classes.
Learn the tricks and tools to help you draw what you see. Emphasis is on drawing correct angles, proportions, and compositional placement. You will use a variety of drawing materials, like
graphite, conte, charcoal and ink.

Learn to paint like a pro! Learn to mix and match colors to paint
several beautiful compositions and arrangements. Build your art

This class is designed for students in grades 5-8 who want
to develop acting skills while having fun. An in-depth look

literature as well as improvisational scenes and monologues.
