MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL SHOE FESTIVAL 2015 ,
LEADING THE REGION FORWARD
Returning in its 6th edition this year is the Malaysia International Shoe Festival
(MISF) 2015, the region’s biggest shoe and fashion sensation. Attracting both
trade visitors and shoe aficionados from around the world, the mega event
showcases the latest footwear trends and designs, industry forums, bargains
on branded shoes and unique shoe-inspired displays and collections.
This year’s event will be a double extravaganza as MISF 2015 will kick off the
launch of the 1Malaysia GP Sale from 14 March to 5 April. The 1Malaysia GP
Sale is an annual nationwide shopping festival organised in conjunction with
the Malaysian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Sepang Circuit from 27 to 29 March
2015.
MISF 2015 will be unveiled at Hall 6 of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
(KLCC), Kuala Lumpur from 13 to 15 March 2015. Admission to MISF 2014 is
free. Visitors can pre-scan the MISF QR code or like misfshoe Facebook page
for swift registration.

14 to 15 March 2015: open to both trade and public visitors from 10:30 am to
9.00 pm.

MISF 2015 is a signature event jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism and
Culture Malaysia and the Malaysian Footwear Manufacturers Association.
This year’s edition will feature the Zang Toi Fall/Winter 2015 Collection, themed
“Mystique Beauty of Venice”. MISF 2015 will honourably be the first stop of
Datuk Zang Toi’s Asian Tour following the collection’s debut during the New
York Fashion Week on 17 February 2015.
Day 1 of MISF 2015 will also pay tribute to fashion icon Datuk Zang Toi with
the MISF Tourism Special Recognition Award. This is in recognition of his 25
years of achievements through his fashion label “House of Toi” in the high-end
haute couture industry. The award will be presented by YB Dato' Seri Mohamed
Nazri bin Abdul Aziz, Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.
There will be a special forum by Datuk Zang Toi on 14 March 2015 to share his
knowledge on the international fashion industry with budding fashion designers
while Prof Datuk Dr Jimmy Choo OBE, shoemaker of the rich and famous. Both
icons will be honoured with retrospective exhibitions of their careers at MISF
2015.
Other attractions during MISF 2015 include the ‘I Love Malaysian Shoes’
campaign which promotes the impressive quality and styling of locally produced
footwear, the Killer Heels Competition, a Short Video Competition and a
Designer Pavilion promoting new local designers, fashion shows, the latest
shoe trends, amazing promotions and many more.

Datuk Zong Toi
Datuk Zang Toi is a New York-based fashion designer. He originates from
Kuala Krai in Kelantan. He won the Mouton-Cadet Young Designers Award
In 1991 and has since then, become an international fashion icon, popular
for his House of Toi signature collection featuring distinctive feminine glamour
appeal.
Datuk Zang Toi left Malaysia at the age of eighteen to Toronto, Canada and
moved to New York a year later where he attended Parsons School of
Design. Upon graduating, he apprenticed with Mary Jane Marcasiano and
Ronaldus Shamask. In 1989, he opened his atelier and soon after, U.S Vogue
Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour featured his creations in the March 1990 issue,
becoming one of the first Asian designers championed by the renowned
editor. He then opened his own atelier in 1990, featuring his unique collection
of bright sarongs, strong suits and regal dresses.
Celebrity fans of the House of Toi label include Sharon Stone, Patti LaBelle,
Ivana Trump, Kelly Preston, Meg Ryan, and Fergie from The Black Eyed
Peas. Both his House of Toi signature collection and the "Z" collection, his
second tier price line, showcase original feminine designer flair. The
collections are available in globally fine stores including the Couture
Department at Nordstrom, fine specialty boutiques and Zang Toi Boutiques
in Malaysia. In 2013, Datuk Zang Toi launched his luxury makeup line with
Amazing Cosmetics at his Spring 2013 runway show.

Prof Datuk Dr Jimmy Choo OBE
Born in Penang, Prof Datuk Dr Jimmy Choo OBE hails from a shoemaking
family, having made his first pair of shoes at 11. His globally renowned luxury
fashion accessories label, Jimmy Choo, is synonymous with carefree
glamour and often sought after by royalties and celebrities from around the
world.
After learning the craft of shoemaking from the family business, he then
studied at the Cordwainers Technical College in Hackney, United Kingdom,
graduating with honours in 1983.
Prof Datuk Dr Jimmy Choo OBE then opened his first shop in Hackney in
1986 and within two years, his finesse in the art of hand-made designer
footwear was recognised in an eight-page spread in Vogue magazine. His
fans from the rich and famous and celebrity world included Princess Diana.
The rise of the Jimmy Choo brand was fuelled through a partnership with
Tamara Mellon, an accessories editor at Vogue, in 1996, to create a line of
ready-to-wear high-end footwear, contracting with Italian factories, under
Jimmy Choo Ltd. The first Jimmy Choo boutique shop was opened in London.
In April 2001, Prof Datuk Dr Jimmy Choo OBE sold his stake in the company
and today focuses on the exclusive Jimmy Choo Couture line produced under

licence from Jimmy Choo Ltd. The ready-to-wear line has expanded to
include accessories such as handbags.
