All classes meet at the New Jr. High School unless otherwise noted in the
course description. Please use the front entrance only.
Parents must accompany their children into and from the building. Teachers will meet students and
parents each day of class and escort to the classroom. Parents must pick up students promptly when their child's
activities finish each day. All supplies provided unless stated otherwise in the camp description. Supervision is
not provided afterward. All camps are coed unless otherwise stated in course description. Changes or
additions to the brochure will be posted online. Class size strictly limited.
Parents – All forms & money MUST be returned to the Community Education Office - Not the School!
Com Ed Hours: M,T,W,Th, 9am-1pm, now through June 3 or FISD Administration M-F, 8-4:30 through
June 3. Your child is not registered until the registration form and payment are received in the
Community Ed Office. Once classes start you must register In Person the first day of class.

games, have a tea party, read, cook up some yummy recipes, and have some good old girly fun! Bring your doll

smile on your face! Crafts include a dolly and me hair bow, a decorated teacup, and decorated frame to capture
your special memories.

J. Reichardt – Emmet’s World - Inspired by elements of The LEGO Movie, this camp is a variety of our AllStar themes including mining and crafting, super heroes, ninjas, pirates, cars, construction vehicles, and
spacemen. Each day will include loads of building, games, challenges, and motorized creations that are sure to
make you feel like you are a part of Emmet’s world. At the end of the week, all campers will go home with a

J. Reichardt – Mining & Crafting I - Minecraft® is a game about placing blocks to build anything you can
imagine. At night monsters come out; make sure to build a shelter before that happens. Experience the world
of Minecraft® with LEGO® bricks in this fun camp! Start by crafting your shelters and some of the mobs,
critters and tools using this software. Face new challenges each day, build motorized models and craft key
elements from this popular game. At week’s end, all miners and crafters will go home with a custom mini

C. Bielamowicz – Engineering & Science in Motion! Transform into an engineer by creating a roller coaster
that defies the laws of physics, and create a rocket to launch into the sky. Have a medieval battle with the

Action Potential Learning, S. Pond – For Electrical Engineers of the Future. Bring your imagination to life
using circuitry and electronics to create crafty circuits. Become modern day electrical engineers using
innovation and experimentation to design projects and have fun! Construct crafty circuits to create things like
mini-robots, LED monsters, wearable circuits that illuminate clothes and more! We facilitate engaging and
student centered projects that allow students to be the maker of their own learning. Each day, students will
design, create, and complete a personalized circuitry project and take home some of those new inventions.

chants. This is a great way to expose children to a diverse culture, and grow an appreciation of different
languages as the world turns into a global village.

C. Lowe - What makes summer fun? Friends! Join us as we play and learn valuable character lessons. You are
welcome to bring your doll to camp, but it is not required for participation! Mon: Camp Along with Me –work
together to set up tents, play games, create tents for your dolls, build mini fire pits, and eat smore’s. Tues:
Critters allowed; dolls need critter friends too! You will receive a pet just for your doll, including adoption
certificate, bed, bowls, and learn training games to play at home! Wed: First aid fun - dolls often get injured in
play. We will make a first aid kit for your dolls and learn how to wrap sprains, give medicine, and bandage
injuries. Take home your own first aid kit with all necessary materials! Thurs: Manners Matter - dress to
impress today! Learn how to set tables, make mini sandwiches and eat treats all while using impeccable
manners. Take home a souvenir teacup, too!

Teenage Brick Turtles! Practice engineering as you build two of the courageous turtles and their wise Japanese
rat sensei, Master Splinter. Strengthen your ninjutsu skills to defeat the villainous Shredder and his evil Foot
Clan. After a treacherous day of crime fighting, don’t forget to give the turtles a break to enjoy a pizza down in

Action Potential Learning, S. Pond – For Creative Computer Engineers. Use your creativity to build, create,
and program microcomputers! Using knowledge of circuitry and programming, students will use Arduino™
software to program microcontrollers for your choice of projects: magic eight “ball” that answers questions, a
door lock that opens with a unique knock, a music box, a “love-meter”, mood sensor and more! You will
actually learn programming and code your own string of commands. Each student will build and program a
unique robot, then take it home to keep at the end of this camp!

Action Potential Learning, S. Pond – Dream up the coolest robot you can imagine – then create it! Become the
next great robotics engineer by using mechanical and engineering skills, plus programming logic to create
unique robots. Construct a tiny LEGO “bot” to take home, then design and build complex robots to function in
various ways from driving and walking to grabbing and battling. Each day students will work in pairs to
complete a new robotic challenge. Using the latest in Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robotics, students will use their
creativity and imagination to build, program, and present fully functioning robots in this camp. All LEGOs are
the property of Action Potential Learning.

T. Lowe – Do you have old t-shirts that are taking up space in your closet? Bring 4-5 old t-shirts and learn ways
to give them new life. We will reuse, restyle, and recycle them into headbands, bracelets, scarves, and more.
Solid shirts work best, but patterns can also be used. Some extra shirts will be provided.

S. Bouis – Great simple tennis instruction for all ages to accelerate the learning of this lifetime sport. Great fun
and instruction. Racquets discussed at first class; bring yours if you already have one. These camps are held at
the New Friendswood Junior High School tennis courts. In case of rain, report to the next scheduled class.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Most FISD Summer Community Education activities are scheduled June 8 - July 1 at the times and locations
listed in this brochure. A technology fee is included in the cost of all camps requiring use of computers.
Activities are open to all students who meet the listed age requirements. Registrations are processed in the
order received in the Community Ed Office. Register early to assure space in your selected activities.
If a class is cancelled, refunds will be processed mid-July. No refunds for withdrawal after June 1. However,
with prior permission, students may be substituted (one for another) prior to the start of a class. Please list
courses in order of preference in case some classes are full. Notifications made if classes not available. If you
do not hear otherwise, please consider your child enrolled. Register by mail: Begins when summer flyer is
available (print/online). Registration at the Jr. High begins Monday, June 8, from 8 am-12 noon, through
June 29 with Summer Supervisor on a space available basis. Classes with insufficient enrollment as of June 2
are subject to cancellation.
Parents are encouraged to send a non-peanut based snack with children in 3-hour camps.
Zero tolerance policy: Students who do not behave in class or are not picked up promptly
will be dropped from their classes and all fees forfeited.
All access is through the “Community Ed” entrance at the front of the Junior High.
