that we don’t?

c. Self- Assurance
d. Courage
2.
Keep these three things in mind to lay a nice foundation:
a. Know Thyself
b. Accept thyself as thou art
c. Love Thyself
3.
4.
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE
Key: What do you bring to the table? Everyone is different, we are each a snowflake. We all
differ in our perspective when we write. We all have something to say and in a new way.
5. How do I get better?
a. Practice singing
b. Ask for help
c. Find a Mentor
d. Get a group of songwriters together and meet each week. This will give
you a commitment and homework each week.
6. What Kind of performer are you?
a. DIVA: YOU LOVE ME
b. INTROSPECTIVE: I’M COOL, I’LL LET YOU WATCH
c. I’M JUST LIKE YOU!
7. There is an element of acting when you are performing. The more relaxed you are, the better
off you will be. Relax by knowing your stuff. Memorize your lyrics. When performing look
above people’s ears, not in their eyes.
8. The breath of singing: When you intake the breath and feel your ribs expand. That is your
singing breath.
9. Practice your singing and playing separately. Lay down a guitar track and have it play while you
walk around your house singing. This will also help in memorizing your lyrics.
10. Have a voice warm-up that last at least a half-hour.
11. To train your ear: match pitches on a piano.
12. What is the difference between a Voice Teacher and a Voice Coach? The voice teacher will help
you learn about breathing, techniques and warm ups. A Voice Coach will help when you are
going to sing on tour, doing a gig or making a cd.
