Admission Brochure for the session 2015-16
The College offers 3-years Honours and General Under Graduate (Bachelor) Courses in Humanities
(Arts) under the affiliation of the Vidyasagar University. The above stream will be abbreviated as B.A
(Bachelor of Arts).
1. Application for admission in B.A. course in the session 2015-2016 shall be online only (http://
nayagramprmgovtcollege.org) commencing after the date of publication of examination results of
W.B.C.H.S.E, 2015 following the guidelines of the Vidyasagar University and Department of Higher
Education, Govt. Of West Bengal. Precise Admission schedule of the college shall be notified in due
course in the above mentioned website.
Note: No printed application form will be issued from the college. Applications will be
consnidered only upon payment of the requisite Application Fees (Rs. 50). Payments can be
made with the Bank Challans through STATE BANK OF INDIA (SBI). Cash payments with Bank
Challans may be received by any STATE BANK OF INDIA (SBI) core branch. The requisite
application fee is exclusive of Bank charges for their service (if applicable) except S.B.I. Baligeria
Branch.
2. A candidate may be admitted to the first year of Three-Year B.A. (Honours/General) courses of
studies on passing 10 + 2 Examination in General or and only Three-Year B.A. (General) if she/he
passed Higher Secondary or Equivalent Examination in Vocational Stream conducted by following

College shall not be liable for admission/ranking in the Merit List in case candidate’s previous
10+2 board is not approved by the Vidyasagar University.
Important conditions for admission eligibility are mentioned below :
 In case of Board/Council other than W.B.C.H.S.E., a candidate shall have to pass in five [four,
where applicable] recognised subjects of full marks not being less than 100 each of which one shall
be English. For them the merit point will be calculated converting their % of marks into 500.
 Marks obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to ascertain the aggregate marks of a
candidate passing the examination under grade system. Also for candidates passing H.S. (10+2)
Examination from the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education under old system, marks
obtained in top five subjects shall be considered to determine the aggregate marks.
 Marks obtained in Environmental Education as a compulsory subject at the H.S. (10+2) Examination
conducted by the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent shall not be
taken into account for calculation of the aggregate marks in top five subjects for the purpose of
admission.
 No candidate shall be considered for admission after a lapse of more than 3 (three) years from the
year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognised regular courses
of
study
after
passing
the
previous
qualifying
examination.
Explanation : An applicant passed H.S. (10+2) level in the year (2013/2014/2015) is eligible to
apply for B.A. Course in this college.
 The candidates qualifying the vocational courses can apply general degree courses only.
 A candidate shall be allowed to take up the Honours subject(s) under heading '(X)' if she/he has
passed the subject(s) under heading '(Y)' at the previous qualifying examination.

Merit Point Calculation:
Merit Point= X+Y
X = 10 percent of marks in aggregate in the 10+2 level exam taking at least one language marks and rest four best marks
of Language/Elective/ Optional subjects excluding the marks of environmental studies.
Y= percentage of marks in applied subject as Hons, If that subject is not studied, consider the marks of one subject as
indicated in the table:

Admission to all Honours/General courses will be strictly on the basis of eligibility criteria and
merit.
Applicants must produce the following documents in original at the time of admission and attached

Transfer certificate and University permission/Migration certificate in case the applicant
already admitted in another college.
A letter from the guardian mentioning the name and address of a local guardian in case of an
outstation applicant.
One copy stamp size colour photograph to be affixed in printout of the online from.

General Information for the Applicants
A. Eligibility Criteria for Application
 For Honours Degree:
45% marks in aggregate or 50% marks in the apply subject or related subjects (TABLE-A)* at the
previous qualifying examination.

For General Degree Courses:
Applicant must qualify in H.S. or equivalent examination.
No candidate shall be considered for admission after a lapse of more than 3 (three) years from the
year of passing the previous qualifying examination or discontinuation of recognised regular courses
of study after passing the previous qualifying examination.
Explanation: The year of admission shall not be taken into account while calculating 3 years from
the year of passing the previous qualifying examination.
The candidates qualifying the vocational courses can apply general degree courses only.

Application submission procedure:
1. Online Submission.
2. Submission of Application’s Hard copy (Print out) to the College Office with required
documents.

in college website.

All valid applicants appearing in the Merit lists for the Honours/General courses must bring the following
documents at the time of counselling:

2. RECIEPT OF THE APPLICATION FEE (ORIGINAL CHALLAN-RECEIPT)
3. ALL DOCUMENTS (IN ORIGINAL) LIKE
H.S. MARKSHEETS,
ADMIT CARD FOR MADHYAMIK OR EQUIVALENT EXAMINATION,
CASTE CERTIFICATE (IF APPLICABLE), ETC.
4. TWO RECENT STAMP-SIZE COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS
All applicants for the Honours/General courses appearing in the Merit List may take their admission to the
respective courses directly on the date mentioned in college website. During admission, the above
documents are required to produce at College Office.
F. Keep In Mind:
As per the recent verdict of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, ragging and sexual harassment in any form
are criminal offences. Students involved in either of these unlawful events will be liable to disciplinary
action taken by the competent authorities. Also, students have to abide by the discipline in the College and
the rules framed by the Vidyasagar University. Candidates with short fall of attendance in their classes will
be taken disciplinary action as per V.U. guidelines.
Candidate should note that
No application form(s) without bank challan(s) will be accepted.
The college reserves the right to admission. Submission of the application form along with requisite fees
does not guarantee admission of the applicant.
The applicants must note that all admissions are provisional and subject to V.U approval.
Any false information furnished in the application form is a punishable offence and renders the cancellation
of the candidature though she/he gets admitted.
After getting admission if a candidate wishes to discontinue her studies or wants to strike out her name from
this college, no money will be refunded.
Ragging in all forms is liable to appropriate disciplinary action.
Eligibility to appear in V.U. Examinations are subject to attendance in college as per V.U. norms as follows
A candidate attending less than 75% but not below 60% of attendance in one or more subjects/groups of
subjects shall be declared as NON-COLLEGIATE and may be allowed to appear at the concerned
examination on payment of requisite Non-Collegiate fees.
A candidate attending less than 60% lectures delivered and practical classes held in one or more

subject(s)/group(s) of subjects shall be declared as DISCOLLEGIATE and shall be debarred from appearing
at the V.U. Examination.
Attendance in a subject/group of subjects shall be counted from the date of commencement of classes or
admission to the course whichever is later.
