Purpose of the meeting:
"The European Commission (EC), together with the Internet of Things European Research Cluster (IERC),
organized on 4th February 2015 (Brussels) a high-level meeting in order to explore the creation of an
Alliance for IoT Innovation. The meeting targeted C-level representatives from the whole value chain of IoT
(nanoelectronics/semiconductor companies, Telecom companies, Network operators, Platform Providers
(IoT/Cloud), Security, Service providers, representatives from different sectors: energy, utilities, automotive,
mobility, lighting, buildings, manufacturing, healthcare, supply chains, cities etc.). The participants voted
unanimously for the creation of the Alliance for Internet of Things Innovation – AIOTI, which will be
officially launched on 25th March (Brussels) during the Net Futures Conference. The AIOTI will help build
constructive synergies between the actors of the European IoT ecosystem (public and private) in order to
ensure a large scale deployment of IoT, notably in relation to specific policy requirements and in light of the
EC Large Scale Pilots to be funded in 2016-17 under the H2020 Work Programme for IoT. The alliance
represents thus an important tool for supporting the policy and dialogue on IoT within the IoT ecosystem."
In this context the IERC meetings organised on 24 March have the following objectives:
 Presentation of the new Alliance for IoT Innovation (AIOTI) governance, structure and the role of IERC
in creating new ideas, knowledge, technological rod mapping and disseminate acquired IoT knowledge
by supporting the AIOTI activities and deployment.
 IERC position papers
o IoT Governance, Privacy and Security Issues
o Standardization for IoT Technologies
o IoT Semantic Interoperability: Research Challenges, Best Practices and Solutions
o White Paper on IoT Identification
 Cooperation IERC-FIWARE
 IoT and Cloud Study Presentation
 Present the IERC new objectives, role, structure, plans and deliverables of the new activity chains align
with the AIOTI structure.
 Follow up the activity chains planning activities for 2015, the SRIA and the Cluster Book 2015. IoT
Week Involvement and Participation
 Presentation of the IERC position paper on IoT Vision on Ecosystems and Large Scale Pilots
Deployment
The second day AIOTI- 1st General Assembly meeting is collocated with the "Net Futures 2015: born to
scale" Conference and will take place in the morning while the plenary Conference will take place in the
afternoon.
In the afternoon, as part of the research and innovation stream of the conference the IERC will organise
together with FIWARE a workshop session with the title "Development of common Architecture and Open
Platforms" Communities (http://netfutures2015.eu/programme/iot/)
Preparation
The activity chain coordinators are required to provide the position papers and the presentations one week
