JESSE MILLER – UPDATE ON VISIT
Jesse Miller: Jesse met with our Grade 2 to 7 students on
May 6th for conversation about Social Media. It was a
lively discussion covering such topics as Instagram,
Snapchat, the benefits and the risks to consider when
using the Internet and these powerful communications
tools. Jesse reminded the children that they have a
responsibility to be good digital citizens, to show respect
for the people they communicate with and to be aware
of stranger danger. Remember to talk to your children
about what they learned -- you may learn a few things,
too.

As you can see, we do not have a Chair for the next
school year.
WE NEED YOU!
It is really important
that we have a fully functioning PAC or we risk the funds
we have raised for our school being split and distributed
to each of the schools in the District. We have raised
$13,500 towards our new playground and are holding
approximately $15,000 of funding that will go to next
year’s school programs (field trips, cultural events,
Outdoor Education Program etc.). Our school depends
on volunteers like you to make that happen. Please
consider stepping forward to fill the PAC Chair role. It’s a
small amount of time each month and the benefits to the
school are enormous! Contact: Corrine Sepke @
[email protected] for more details and information about
the position.
PLAYGROUND EXPANSION UPDATE
The Neilson Grove Playground is expanding. Habitat has
designed a fantastic layout based on student input and
feedback.
We have a long way to go to meet our $89,000 goal. The
playground fund is approximately $13,500 at this time.
Proceeds from raffles and the Gaming Grant from the
Provincial Government will be allocated to the fund. We still
need your help. We are accepting donations directly to this
project. Please make your cheque payable to: Neilson Grove
PAC. When dropping it off at the office, please ensure that it
is clear that it is for the Playground Fund. For more

OTHER WAYS TO SUPPORT OUR SCHOOL THROUGH
FUNDRAISING
DOUGH RAISER PROGRAM
Neilson Grove is delighted to continue “raising some dough”
through the Cobs Bread Dough Raiser Program. Remember
to mention Neilson Grove Elementary when you shop at the
Ladner store and Cobs will donate 5% of your purchase back
to our school.
You can participate in the Thrifty Foods community
fundraising program. Just obtain a Smile Card from the PAC
and each time you shop, our school receives 5% of the amount
you load on your card. If you have family who lives in
Tsawwassen and shops at Thrifty Foods, you can obtain a
card for them as well. Please contact
[email protected] for a Thrifty Smile Card.
Mabel’s Labels: Do your children misplace or lose their
“things”. Why not label them? The Mabel’s Labels Fundraiser
has been re-opened this year. Please go to:
https://www.mabelsfundraising.com/campaigns/16331neilson-grove-elementary.
We get $10 for each gift card purchased or 20% of your total
order.
This is a great way to personalize your children’s belongings
and can help the school get “lost things” back where they
belong.
WE’RE ON FACEBOOK
Neilson Grove is on Facebook. “Like” and “Follow” us

We post often! It’s another way of keeping in touch
and on top of school events and activities.
