AN OVERVIEW OF THE AGING NETWORK LINKING
PROGRAMS & SERVICES
PURPOSE
Aging in Ohio is a foundation course for anyone involved with the aging network, including Area Agency on
Aging staff, Ohio Department of Aging staff, aging services staff, direct service organizations, boards and
advisory council members, long-term care facility staff, students and other interested individuals. For over 24
years, experienced professionals have provided an introduction to the aging network, aging programs and
services, demographic trends and the organizations, agencies and funding sources that comprise the aging
network in this day-long orientation. In addition to this overview, Aging in Ohio includes information on the
policies and issues that face the aging network and expands existing knowledge of the network and related
programs.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
IDENTIFY...
• characteristics of older adults in Ohio.
• major policy, program & service trends in aging.
DESCRIBE...
• the functional framework of the aging network at the national, state & local levels.
• the programs available at each level & how to access these resources.
• current key issues facing professionals & volunteers in the aging network.

RNs & LPNs:
The Ohio Board of Nursing accepts sessions approved for Social Workers for
Continuing Nurse Education (CNE).
