Attendance Policy for Prom, Grad Bash, and Graduation
“Students with 10 or more unexcused absences from any class period for the first
semester and /or 20 unexcused absences from any class period for the year will
not be allowed to participate in social functions primarily intended to reward
students this includes: Prom, Grad Night, dances and field trips.
Absences will be deducted from the total if the student can provide documentation
of a physical condition, verified by a physician, or other unusual circumstances.
STUDENTS MAY BE PROHIBITITED FROM PARTICIPATING IN EXTRA CURRICULAR
ACITIVITES BECAUSE OF THE NUMBER OR SERVERITY OF DISCIPLINE REFERRALS.
Appeals to this policy must be made one week prior to the event. It is your
responsibility to turn in all excused notes. Do this as the year goes on so that it
doesn't become an emergency on anyone’s part prior to the event. In words, be
proactive :)
What does this mean?
1. If you miss less than 10 days in the 1st semester, your absences start over again
at the beginning of the 2nd semester.
2. Field trips and other school-related functions do not count as absences.
3. An excessive amount of tardies will lead to disciplinary action, which can
prevent you from attending these events.
4. OSS days count as unexcused absences.
Remember– cell phone referrals result in a
minimum of 1 day OSS.
5. Yes, we will be taking attendance on FCAT days — it
is the law!
6. You have 3 days after each absence to turn in a
doctor’s note in order you it to be considered excused.
*Being Proactive will cause a lot less stress for all of us.
So please be responsible.*
