Condolences
Our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Louis Heunis who passed away on 18
March 2015. He was a loyal member of Overkruin Atletiekklub for 12 years. His contributions
to the club will not be forgotten and he will be missed.
Sincere thank-you to all the members who kindly assisted with time keeping and
clubs tents in March.
Congratulations
 Congratulations to Kobus Marais who won first prize for juniors in the Marakele
half marathon on 7 March.
Loskop (18 April)
Accommodation for the away weekend to Loskop 50km and 21.1km Wild
Challenge has been booked. The cost for camping is R250 per person for
the weekend whether you would like to stay for one night or two. Non-club
members are also welcome. If you would like to book your place in the
campsite, please send your name and proof of payment to Leon at
[email protected]. Bookings will be on a first come first serve
basis. Please take note that pre-entries for the race have closed.
There is one 21.1km race entry available for transfer – please contact Katinka if you are

Bonitas Comrades novices seminars (14 April)

Magnolia Long Run (26 April)
Overkruin is assisting at the Magnolia long run by managing a water point along their 15 km
route. Helpers are required from our club in order to make this possible. If helpers would like
to run the route, they are free to do so after the initial rush of the first lap has passed the
water point. Please contact Leon telephonically at 072 390 9775 or by email at
[email protected] if you are willing to offer your time to the club on this morning.
Comrades braai (6 May)
Please join us for a braai after time trial on 6 May. We will use this
opportunity to wish all of our Comrades runners well and offer them our
support. Bring your own meat along. We will light the fires and there will
be cold drinks on sale.
Comrades accommodation (27 May - 1 June)
Accommodation in Ballito for Comrades is fully booked.
The plans are in motion...Overkruin Atletiekklub will be presenting an AGN road running race on
23 May 2015 at the Kolonnade Shopping Centre! With the help of our generous sponsors,
Kolonnade Shopping Centre, Virseker and Kings Hire, the race is set to be a huge success.
We are going to need everyone’s help to make this event the best it can be. Any
family or friends who are keen to help are also welcome. Any and all help will be
greatly appreciated. Please confirm as soon as possible if you are able and willing to assist us
on the day of the race. Please reply to this email with the names and surnames of all those who
would like to be added to the helpers list.

P.S. So far we have 37 club members and 38 non-members on our helpers list!
The 2015 Two Oceans half and ultra marathon take place on 4 April.
There are 15 and 16 club members participating in the respective races. Feel free to monitor their
progress on the day by following the links on www.twooceansmarathon.org.za.
Due to fire damage, the ultra marathon will run over Ou Kaapseweg and Southern Cross drive
instead of traversing Chapman’s Peak and running up Constantia Nek. The following route profile
gives a comparison between the two routes:

Overkruin is currently placed 10th in the AGN league. The Overkruin men are currently 11th on the

Time Trial
Time trial takes place every Wednesday at 17:30 at Hoërskool Overkruin. Runners may
choose between 5km and 8 km routes.
Cold drinks are available for sale at the Clubhouse after every time trial.
A ‘bring and braai’ takes place on the first Wednesday of every month after time trial. The
next time trial braai will be on 1 April.
