“BEST OF THE BEST” BOB AWARDS
The Abilene Regional P-16 Council announces the Best of the Best, “The BOB” Awards competition.
The winners will be announced at the BOB Awards Banquet on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the Abilene
Civic Center. Humorist Jeanne Robertson will be the entertainment.
“The BOB Awards will honor students, teachers, schools, colleges, businesses and individuals who
make a difference in the education process here in our area,” says Randy Pool, P-16 Council Chair.
“We will acknowledge the innovation, dedication and creativity being used to educate our
community.”
Nominations can be made on the P-16 Council website, www.p16abilene.org. “We hope people will
take time to nominate someone they know or nominate themselves for these awards. It is a short,
quick nomination form and there are cash prizes for students and educators ranging from $50 to
$600!” Abbie Randolph, P-16 Council Executive Director.
The Abilene Regional P-16 Council serves the 43 school districts in Region 14, Pre-K schools and
colleges, providing financial literacy programs, financial aid workshops and other activities to help
create career- and college-ready students. The P-16 Council considers “college” to be any education
beyond high school. “Not all students will be headed to a four-year college, but we want to help
prepare them for whatever their future holds,” says Randolph.
Past projects of the P-16 Council have included a math looping program, Kindergarten Readiness
Activity books, regional Summits, mentoring programs, a college advisor for rural schools, various
trainings and scholarships.
